Newsletter. Triennial Meeting. Voting.

Newsletter

A Violette Family Association newsletter has been published. Printed copies go to those who have not given us an email address, but electronic copies are available through our web site at VioletteRegistry.com/news/newsletters.

This newsletter is devoted to information about the Triennial Meeting to be held on September 12, 2020. It will be a virtual meeting using Zoom. The newsletter gives you instructions on how to connect with the meeting using your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Check the meeting notice for the meeting time in your time zone.

It is time to elect our officers for the 2020-2023 triennium. The newsletter contains a ballot for mailing but you can also vote online at VioletteRegistry.com/2020-voting. Either way, your vote must be in before the Meeting in order to count.

Elections in August

The Violette Family Association Bylaws call for Triennial Meetings to be held to take care of business not handled by the Board of Directors. The next such meeting will be held in August 2020. You will receive official notice of the meeting date by mid-June. While in the past these meetings have been held during a Reunion, no Reunion is planned for 2020 so the meeting will be a virtual one. You can see the details of how this will be done by reading the Constitution and Bylaws.

One topic on the agenda for that meeting is to elect officers for the Board of Directors. There are four offices to be filled: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The fifth member of the Board is the most recent Past President. We invite nominations for those offices by June 30, 2002, so that we can verify willingness to serve and to publish them 60 days in advance of the meeting. Send your nominations, or if you would like to volunteer, to President@VioletteFamily.org.

Below is a list of past officers. You can also see this list at VioletteRegistry.com/past-officers.

* No Reunion, no meeting, no elections, same officers continued

Note that all of the current officers have been in office since 2014 and some for longer than that. The youngest of the four is 76, the oldest 88. Perhaps it is time to get a younger generation involved, at least in some offices! The current officers will be glad to help new ones get started.

A post about several topics!

Donations welcomed

Thank you to all who have donated to the Violette Family Association! Those go to support our work and are more important since we have not had a Reunion to provide revenues since 2014. Our expenses are not many: we have the web site costs to cover, but the greatest expense is printing and mailing newsletters. We do newsletters on an irregular basis, but currently try to publish one about every 8-9 months.

Donations can be sent by mail to the Treasurer (Louiselle Violette, 12 Woodland Circle, Bow NH 03304) or to the President (David Violette, 2050 W Dunlap Ave, Lot D54, Phoenix AZ 85021). Choose the latter if you are also sending family information or have questions.

You can also donate securely online at our web site VioletteRegistry.com. There is a Donate Button at the bottom of every page. We use PayPal, but you don’t have to be a PayPal member to use this service with any credit card.

No Reunion plans

We still have no group planning for a Reunion of the Association. We welcome any group who would like to host an Association Reunion in their area. The Association has lots of resources to help plan and carry out a Reunion. You can get more details at the web site: go to The Association/Reunions/Reunion Guidelines.

Want to plan a local Gathering?

Perhaps you would like to have smaller gathering of Violettes from your area! It would be a good way to join with your own family but also get a chance to meet some “cousins” you never knew but who live near to you. We can help by providing a list of Violette Association members who live in your area. The list can be filtered by state, postal code, or however. Just let us know.

We can provide genealogical info for those attending; we need to know in advance who will be there, of course.

We can also publicize your Gathering in our news so it reaches others. Naturally we would want photos and a report of any event you do have!

Have a Violette story to tell?

Want to share a story about a Violette woman or man?

Do you have a story about a Violette event you want to share? Would you like to tell about a notable Violette person?

We would like to help you with tasks like those, here on VioletteRegistry.com.

Let Dave Violette, our President and Webmaster, know what you have in mind and he can help you get the story published here. Don’t worry if you are concerned about your writing skills! Dave will help you organize your story and help you polish it for readability. He can also help you with illustrations or images to enhance your story. Continue reading

You know how it is with families – when cousins only see each other for weddings and funerals it is easy to not be close. And when your children and theirs start having children the distance seems to get greater. We have so much going on in our own lives.

Well, the Violette Family Association may not have been the best “cousin” for staying in touch. Our interactions with you have been sporadic over the last years – usually when we have something to say about Reunions.  Continue reading
