VIOLETTE (Staufer), Ann Marie ~ 84, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS on February 14, 2020. She was born in Neualbenreuth, Germany, March 1, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Bertha (Bohm) Staufer of Bormisch, Germany and Hans Staufer of Falkenberg, Germany. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Roaul Violette (2012). She is survived by her children, Alan (Mary Jillett), Eugene (Catherine), Patricia, Roger (Val),Edward (Lynn), Eric(Janneke); seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is survived by sisters, Rosi Schroll and Friedl (Bruno) Brandel. After her marriage to Gerald in 1955, she immigrated to Canada (1957) where she became a Canadian Citizen. Ann spent her entire life devoted to her family as a selfless matriarch. She was humble and liked by many. Having amazing recall, she enjoyed reciting word for word, children’s stories to those under her care. She was an amazing cook and never wasted anything. She taught her family to be strong and independent and was the epitome of kindness. As a naturalist, she had wonder and admiration for animals and in particular, for birds. Ann enjoyed the outdoors and the immediate, local, environment to express and satisfy her creative needs. She was an intellectual and industrious individual having many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed playing piano, taking long walks, aerobics/yoga, rug hooking, crochet, looking after pre-school children and socializing while playing darts at the Royal Canadian Legion. The family would like to thank the many nurses for their compassion and care that was given to our Mom at the hospital. They all commented on how much they came to love her during her stay
