    DOM: Genealogies of the Catholic Families of Maine, New Brunswick, and the Province of Quebec has 1800 which isn't practical because their first born was 26-5-1795 which points toward 1794 as the most probable year of marriage, Langlois, Mercure Tome III pg 58, Lippe pg 21 has 2-7-1792 St Basile but a review of those church records shows that it was a Louis Ouellet who married a Marie Genevieve Cyr on that date.

    First mention of Francois Violet in the St. John River area: about 1768 a small French settlement was formed on the Hammond River in the Kennebecasis region in which were included families bearing the names Thibodeau, Violette, Robichau, Gaudein, Blanchard, LeBlanc, and Doucet. Source Tome I pg 13 Papers of Prudent L. Mercure.
    Mercure Tome III pg 57 lists him as farmer, miller and master blacksmith.

    Francois and Marie-Luce were most likely married before witnesses during a civil ceremony at Kennebecasis in the fall of 1769; as was the custom. Later, on May 6, 1770, Fr. Bailey blessed the marriage at the Ecoupahag mission. The mission records were kept at Caraquet, but that is not where the ceremony was performed.

    Charles departed LaRochelle, France 29 June 1749, on a transport in convoy with the Men-of-War ships Intrepide & Tigre with his wife Marie David, and their son Francois, arrived in Louisbourg, Acadia 23 July 1749.

    Charles was a "couvreur de toits", a roofer.

    28 April 1759 landed in LaRochelle France, having left Louisbourg "with permission". Soon after moved to Rochefort. Ref; Port of La Rochelle records.
    This record is in conflict with information from "Endgame 1758" by A. J. B. Johnston pg 174/175 which states that the first ship with the French inhabitants left Louisbourg on 8 August 1758 with governor Drucour and his wife. The last ship left at the end of September 1758.

    Stated at his marriage to Catherine Ytier that neither could write to sign the marriage certificate.
