    Leo James died at a Van Buren nursing home. He was born in Van Buren, April 14, 1925, the son of Vital E. and Estelle (Bossé Violette. He was educated in local schools and was a 1943 Van Buren Boys High School and then a 1950 graduate of Husson College. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was the recipient of two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Levasseur-Farrell, American Legion Post 49 of Van Buren and the National Association of Postmasters. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service, first as a rural carrier in Van Buren for more than 17 years and then became postmaster at St. David for more than 14 years. He also worked for many years at Fongemie Ford Sales in Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie (Roy) Violette of Van Buren; three sons and their wifes, Charles and Sharon Violette of Pleasant Hill, Ohio; Michael and Eileen Violette of Townsend, Mass.; Richard and Sue Violette of Van Buren; four brothers, Emery Violette and Robert Violette, both of Van Buren, Claude Violette of New Britain, Conn., and P. Eugene Violette of Edwardsville, Ill; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Adelaide Lapierre and by two brothers, Martin Violette and Elmer Violette. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, April 6, at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery later this spring.

    Rosalie R. Violette, 89, died Sept. 15, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 15, 1922, in Trois Pistoles, Quebec, daughter of Sylvio and Adele (Fiola) Roy. She had worked for Annette's Bridal Shop and Bella's Bridal Shop, Van Buren, for a number of years. She relocated to Bangor several years ago after the death of her husband. Mrs. Violette is survived by three sons, Charles Violette and his wife, Sharon, of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, Michael Violette and his wife, Eileen, of Townsend, Mass., and Richard Violette of Clifton; one sister, Marion McNeilis of West Warwick, R.I.; six grandchildren, Aaron, Ethan, Nicole, James, Beth and Katie; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo James Violette, in 2002; and by a daughter-in-law, Sue Violette, in 2006. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and noon-1:30 p.m. Monday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.

    Obit 23 Dec 1937 Bangor Daily News - Exias Violette, 79, prominent and respected farmer of the town, died Saturday at the home of his son, Vital E. Violette, in Main Street from a sudden heart attack. He was a descendant of Francois Violette, Acadian farmer who was Van Buren's first settler and was well informed on the early history of this community. He was one of the town's staunchest Democrats.
    Surviving are three sons, Vital E. and Leo of Van Buren and Abel of Hartford, Conn.: six daughters Mrs. Peter Lefebvre (Anna) of Keegan, Mrs. Denis Bouchard (Eva) of Skowhegan, Mrs. George Sirois (Lottie) of Van Buren, Mrs. Damase Bosse (Martha) of Skowhegan, Mrs. Wilfred A.
