Woodville - Nancy (Merritt) Violette, wife of Danny Violette, was called to heaven way too early as a result of a tragic automobile accident on June 21, 2019. Born to Lorraine and Charlie Merritt on July 8, 1958, Nancy was a woman of many careers. When she first met Danny she was working as a waitress at the Hotel Terrace. Shortly after their marriage she and Danny opened ABC Violette’s Driving School where they taught a generation of young drivers from Millinocket, East Millinocket, Medway, Woodville and Lincoln. Having grown up talking with her mother in American Sign Language, she often taught ASL in local schools. She became certified as a medical assistant and worked for several local medical practices and, most recently, as a home health care aide.

By far, Nancy’s favorite job titles were Mom and Grammy. With her former husband, Tim Gordon, and with Danny raised three beautiful daughters. Just as the youngest was graduating from college, Nancy and Dan provided foster care to, fell in love with and adopted Nathan and Abby, then 5 and 2.

Nancy’s favorite times were with family, whether playing a quiet game of cribbage with Danny on a Saturday morning before the kids got up, enjoying long summer days at camp on Ambejejus Lake or hosting extended family for Christmas dinner. Nancy was never happier than with family. She was loved and will be missed by all.

Nancy was predeceased by her sister, Kathy, her father, Charlie, and her daughter, Erin. In addition to her mother, Lorraine, and the love of her life, Danny, she is survived by daughter Sarah and husband Aaron Brown and grandchildren Madyson, Mallory, Gage, Monroe and Nash; daughter Lauren and husband John Burdett; stepdaughter Brooke and husband Michael York and grandchildren Lyla, Luke and Levi; son Nathan, 12, and daughter Abby, 9. Nancy will also be greatly missed by mother and father-in-law, Dottie and Dick Violette, brother-in-law Rick Violette; brother and sister-in-law David and Theresa Violette; and nephews, Chris and Trevor Violette (two of her many former driver ed students).

Friends are invited to share memories of Nancy from 4-6 P.M on Thursday, June 27 at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket, where a celebration of Nancy’s life will be held 10 A.M. Friday, June 28, with the Rev. Allen Archer officiating. Private interment will be at the Woodville Cemetery.
