Gertrude Marie (Violette) Murphy passed away on December 1, 2020 at Harris Hill in Concord, New Hampshire at the age of 91.

She was born on May 5, 1929 Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada to her parents Leonard E Violette and Albertine (Caron) Violette. She moved to Lewiston, Maine with her parents and her 14 siblings as a child and graduated from Lewiston High School. After high school, she moved to Concord to attend New Hampshire State Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1951.

She worked for twenty-seven years at Concord Hospital and spent the last years of her career working at New Hampshire Hospital, from where she retired in 1992.

After retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer at the New Hampshire Federal Credit Union and was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She did not hesitate to give herself to her community as a volunteer and friend. But most importantly, she cherished her time with her grandchildren. She married David James Murphy Sr of Concord, New Hampshire, in 1954. Together, they raised their six children in Concord's South end. Gertrude was known for her spunk and generosity.

She was undeniably selfless and fiercely loyal to everyone she loved. She had a constant whirl of magnetic energy filled with laughter and fun. "Vi", "Gert", "Mom", "Gram", or "Mrs. Murphy"- she had the most profound and everlasting effect on everyone around her. Her smile and kind spirit will be missed by many, but will continue to inspire us and will be with us always.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her siblings.

She is survived by her six children, Jane Raymond of Boscawen, David Murphy Jr of Concord, Timothy Murphy and his wife Terry, of Concord, William Murphy of Concord, Mary Murphy of Webster, and Douglas Murphy of Concord and her eight grandchildren, Katherine Wade and her husband Sean of Franklin, Andrew Maxfield of Webster, Jonathan Raymond of Boscawen, Jessica Wade and her husband Chris of Concord, Jordan Murphy Britt and her husband Jacob of Louisville, Kentucky, Brooke Murphy and her husband Cory of South Hadley, Massachusetts, Harrison Murphy of Concord, and Bradley Murphy of Concord as well as eight great-grandchildren - one born minutes before her passing.
