    Notes:

    Verna N Ouellette, 75, died peacefully Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at a Bangor nursing home, following a long illness. She was born June 15, 1941 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Adhemar and Margaret Violette Madore.

    Verna owned and operated Verna’s Beauty Shop for almost 15 years. After having her children, she closed her shop to devote her years raising her loving children, and later she worked with Van Buren District Secondary School for several years as a substitute teacher. She was a long-time member of the Columbiettes and the Gateway Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed making puzzles, spending her time in her flower garden and making ceramics. She cherished the many memories she had when her loving grandchildren visited and many family gatherings.

    She is survived by: her husband of 53 years, Nathan J. Ouellette of Van Buren; three children, Peggy Newcomb and her husband Bob of Corinth, Jenny Sheridan and her husband Scott of Embden, and Scott “Gorp” Ouellette and his wife Becky of Van Buren; two sisters, Patsy Roy of Van Buren and Jackie Bubar and her husband Wayne of Ft. Fairfield; three brothers, Rodney Madore of Eagle Lake, John Madore and his wife Gilda of Forestville, CT, and Dave Madore of Bangor; seven grandchildren, Amber, Kyle “Carl”, Darren “Darrell”, Erica, Avery, Nathaniel and Annissia; and many nieces and nephews.

    A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Bruno-St Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday evening 6-8:00 PM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St, Van Buren. Burial will be in Grande Riviere Cemetery, Van Buren.

    ADHEMAR A. MADORE VAN BUREN – Adhemar A. Madore, 87, died Sept. 25, 2008, at the Maine Veterans' Home, Caribou. He was born April 12, 1921, in Van Buren, the son of Joseph and Rosalie (Lajoie) Madore. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1635 of Van Buren, a former member of Van Buren Lions Club, St. Bruno Choir Society and the Van Buren Fire Department. Adhemar was employed as a manager of the water treatment plant at Loring Air Force Base for 30 years. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors, especially with his sons. He is survived by three sons, Rodney Madore and his companion, Joan Dow, of Eagle Lake, John Madore and his wife, Gilda, of Bristol, Conn., and Davis Madore of Brewer; three daughters, Verna Ouellette and her husband, Nathan, and Patricia Roy, all of Van Buren, and Jackie Bubar and her husband, Wayne, of Fort Fairfield; one brother, Roger Madore of Bristol, Conn.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Arrangements are a service of Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.

    Van Buren – Mrs, Rose (Lajoie) Madore Nicholas died July 11 in an Enfield, Conn., nursing home.
    She was born Oct. 16, 1892, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Violette) Lajoie and lived in Van Buren until 12 years ago, when she moved to Enfield.
    She was the widow of Joseph Madore and Arthur Nicholas.
    She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Rita Norris and Mrs. Carlita Corbine, both of Enfield and Mrs Doreen Zaugg of Windsor Locks, Conn.; three sons, Adhemar Madore of Van Buren, Rudolph of Westbrook and Roger Madore of Sanford; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Sallie and Mrs. Jane Hybers, both of Portland, and Mrs. Lillian Dubay of Caribou; two brothers, George of Lewiston and Joseph of Portland; 26 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
    A request was made by the family for memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
    Mass of Christian Burial was held July 15 at St. Bruno’s church, Van Buren, and burial was in the parish cemetary in the family lot.
