    VAN BUREN, Maine — George J. Violette, 92, died peacefully Saturday, October 7, 2017, at a Van Buren healthcare facility following a long illness. He was born November 21, 1924 in Van Buren, a son of the late Fred and Catherine (Martin) Violette.

    He is survived by eight children, Georgie Martin of Van Buren, Nancy Violette of Caribou, Geneva Pelletier of Kittery, Patsy Smith of Mississippi, Daniel Violette of Van Buren, Claudette Levesque of Madawaska, Michael Violette of Van Buren, and Susan Millrod of Connecticut; one brother, Robert Violette of Hamlin; three sisters, Eva Nunley of Hamlin, Shirley Violette of Van Buren and Aline Deese of Alabama; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents, George is predeceased by his wife Marcella (Gagnon) Violette in 1959, a grandson Terry Martin in 2008, and several brothers and sisters.
