At the Falls Villa (Grand Falls Manor), January 30, 2011, Mrs. Cecile Violette of Saint-Leonard passed away at the age of 95. She was the wife of the late Wilfred H. Violette. Born at Van Buren, Maine in 1915, she was a daughter of the late Philippe and Laura (Cormier) Michaud.

Mrs. Violette was a member of the Saint-Leonard Daughters of Isabella and of the Saint-Leonard Golden Age Club. She and her husband owned and operated several Ford/Mercury dealerships for several years while also operating the family farm.

She is survived by three children, Philip (Pauline) of Edmundston, Robert (Sylvia) of Grand Falls, Rachel Clair (James) of Fredericton, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Joel, two brothers, Harvey Michaud and Rev. Lawrence Michaud and one sister, Irene Belanger.

Her funeral service was held Wednesday, February 2nd at 11 a.m. from the Saint-Leonard Roman Catholic Church with Father Roland Poitras officiating, assisted by Fathers Lucien Levesque, Bertrand Ouellet and Frederic Poitras. The pallbearers were Gilles Clair, Greg Violette, Michel Violette, Luc Violette, Daniel Violette and Terry Toner. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. An honour guard was formed by members of the Daughters of Isabella.

Arrangements were by O'Regan's Funeral Home Ltd.

At the Grand Falls General Hospital, October 3, 2010, Mrs. Cécile Violette of Saint-Leonard passed away at the age of 72. She was the wife of the late Sylvio Violette. Born at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in 1938, she was a daughter of the late Eddie and Almida (Gagnon) Desjardins.

She is survived by eight children, Jeannine (Camille Cyr) of Aroostook, Yvonne Violette, Monique (Léon Clavet) and Robert of Saint-Leonard, Jacqueline Ouellet (Alexandre Sabastien) of Moncton, Normand and Jeannot of Saint-Leonard and Gisèle Violette (Gérald Michaud) of Saint-Leonard-Parent, eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters, René of Siegas, Armand of Edmundston, Sylvio of Saint-Jacques, Hermel of Saint John, Adrienne Levesque of Verret, Bernadette Bérubé of Grand Falls and Leola Fortin of Connecticut, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Nicole.

Her funeral service was held Wednesday, October 6th at 4 p.m. from the Saint-Leonard Roman Catholic Church, with Father Roland Poitras officiating. Interment was in the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Cemetery.

1020 Charles A. Gudreau Jr. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at his residence. He was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Presque Isle, the son of the late Charles A. and Elizabeth (Violet) Gudreau Sr. Charles grew up in the Presque Isle area and attended local schools, later graduating from Presque Isle High School in adult education. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked most of his life as a mechanic for Coles Express, drove cab for Arnold & Delmar Brown, and also worked in security. He was a member of the American Legion Post. Charles also invested in the lives of other people. He was a scoutmaster for many years earning the Silver Beaver Award and producing eight Eagle Scouts. Even though Charles had two open heart surgeries in 1987 and in 1992, that never stopped him from helping others, and he received the Exemplary Award from the state of Maine for his countless hours of service to others. He had a great love for the woods and had a camp on Presque Isle Stream that he had helped his father build when he was 17. Charles was also an active member of Grant Memorial Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norma (Hewitt) Gudreau of Presque Isle; a daughter, Ellen Gudreau Cronin of Presque Isle; three sons, Stephen Gudreau and his wife, Peggy, of Mapleton and Wayne and Michael Gudreau, both of Presque Isle; three grandchildren, Michael Gudreau II, Matthew Cronin and Dannielle Cronin; three great-grandchildren, Sierra Blade, Aliysa Blade and Calliana Cronin; a half sister, Blanche Brillis of Connecticut; many sisters-in-law, as well as a brother-in-law, Wayne Hewitt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Victor Gudreau. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Grant Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Chaffee officiating. Friends may call noon until the time of service at the church. Committal services with military honors will take place 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Mrs. John Violette passed away from this earth Monday eve, she has been a great sufferer for the past five years. A year ago the doctors told her there was no hopes of recovery as a cancer was rapidly doing its deadly work. She leaves a devoted husband, a son and two daughters, and many relatives and friends to mourn her sad demise. The funeral will take place at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Catholic cemetery. The bereaved ones have the heart-felt sympathy of the entire community.

Mrs. Ludger Labarge of Ladysmith came down last Thursday to the bedside of her dying sister, Mrs. Anna Violette.

Miss Virginia Violette came from Chippewa Friday with her Uncle Israel Ferron who went to bring her to see her mother, who is seriously ill.

The funeral of Mrs. John Violette was one of the largest ever seen in our town. Among those who came from a distance to attend the sepulcher were Mrs. Robert Daigle and Mrs. Frank Violette of Tomahawk, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Savord, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Violette and Miss Ida Lindroff of Ladysmith.

1044 Col. Ronald L. Violette, USAF retired, 86, of Anaheim passed away peacefully, Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019.

Ron was born in La Crosse, Oct. 8, 1932, to parents, Raymond and Agnes Violette (nee Solberg). After the death of his mother, his father married Margaret Violette (nee Nordrum).

Ron proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot, ROTC Commander and other positions for 24 years; serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Upon retirement, he became a director of Safety and Systems Management, a large off campus program, at the University of Southern California.

Ron was a life-long Packers fan and stockholder. For many years he was a season ticket holder for USC football. He spent many hours woodworking and enjoyed exercising with friends at the fitness center. Ron also enjoyed many summers in Brownsville, Minn., relaxing, riding his bike and fishing with family and friends.

Ron was a faithful servant of God and raised his family to love Jesus as their Savior. He was a life-long Lutheran and attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Huntington Beach, for 43 years, where he served in many leadership capacities.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother; father; stepmother; and two sisters, Janice Otterson and Rita Pfingsten.

Ron is survived by his wife, Bonnie (nee Ristow); sons, Dan (Debbie), Jim (Kim) and Joe (Barbara); and seven grandchildren, Rachel, Erica, Adam, Amy, Zach, Nick and Ally.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 28, at Walnut Village Chapel, Anaheim. Ron will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., with full military honors.
