He was born March 6 1941 in Van Buren the son of Fred and Catherine (Martin) Violette. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years for the town of Van Buren highway department. Nelson is survived by two daughters Sonia Dubay and her husband Paul of Palm City Fla and Kim Morin of St David, three grandchildren Natalie and Eric Morin of St David, and Adam Dubay of Florida, three brothers Alfred Violette, and George Violette both of Van Buren, Robert Violette of Hamlin, six sisters Cecile Violette, Eva Nunley, and Shirley Violette all of Van Buren, Jeannette Lint of Columbia SC, Freda Cyr of New Britain Conn, and Aline Deese of Fruitdale Ala. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother Omer Violette, and by two sisters Gilberte Pasko, and Rita Bergen. Relatives and friends may call from noon Friday until time of service at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home 118 High St Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 pm Friday at the St Bruno-St Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery. | Violette, Nelson Joseph (P38739)

| 10940 | Notes on mistake about a marriage to a Beatrice Violette: This marriage [Eusebe to Clarisse] was registered later in the St-Jacques book and I cannot trace it. It was not registered in 1889 and I do remember that it was written Beatrice Violette as his widow but I later find out that it was Scholastique Clarisse Roy. So the priest had made an error. However there was a Beatrice Guerette who married on April 16 1894 in St-Jacques Eusebe Bosse. This is where the confusion for Beatrice came. So there were no Beatrice Violette married to a BOSSE but rather a Beatrice GUERETTE The number # 2 means that it is a second widow and that the act is then for a 3rd marriage. When the person is only widow once, there is no 1-. So in that book, page 217, Eusebe would have been widow to first Scholastoiquer ROY and 2- (second) to Beatrice Violette). But this was an error reported by a St-Jacques book done in the 1980 and also in the parish register where they enter after many years (maybe at a 25th wedding anniversary) (cannot remember and I should have made a note) of a later marriage. | 10947 | Obituary of Robert James Violette Memorial services for Robert James Violette, 66, of Hale Center, TX, and formerly Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 13, 2019, in the Abernathy United Church. Cremation and services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mr. Violette died Friday, May 10, 2019, in Lubbock, TX. Robert was born September 24, 1952 in Port Hueneme, CA to Fernand Joseph and Dorothy Mae (Shaw) Violette, and was raised in Baldwin, IA by his step-father and mother, Stanley and Dorothy Mae Weets. He graduated from Maquoketa, High School, Maquoketa, IA in 1970. He enlisted in the US Navy, serving in the Vietnam era for 10 years, he then transferred to the US Army where he served until being honorably discharged in 1981. He was stationed in Guam, working in search and rescue and helicopter repairs. He moved to Lubbock from Houston in 1983, and married Georgia Teré Jackson, September 16, 1995, in Lubbock. He was employed at the Lubbock Sheriff's Office as a Detention Officer for 11 years, retiring in 2014. Robert enjoyed woodworking and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Teré Jackson of Hale Center, TX, a son, Kalvin Violette and wife Brittany and grandson Ethan Violette all of Abernathy, 3 daughters, Linda Smith, Brooksann Gomez and Blanca Violette all of Arizona, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great granddaughters. He is also survived by 6 brothers, Martin Scott Weets and Tom Weets both of Missouri, Wayne Weets and Dale Weets both of Iowa, Edward "Skip" Beam of Wisconsin and Jerry Weets of Illinois, and 5 sisters, Nancy Hooton, Barbara Kemp, Virginia "Ginny" Mccoy and Mary Jo Geerts all of Iowa and Shirley Sallee of Montana.
