She was born March 7, 1920 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Jean and Alice (Madore) Laplante. She worked many years as an LPN in the areas of Boston, MA and Van Buren. Edna raised her four loving children with her late husband, Gilbert Violette. She relocated back to her hometown of Van Buren in 1985 following her retirement, to be closer to her family roots. She is survived by: one son, Steve Violette and his friend Carol of Wrentham, MA; three daughters, Patricia Anderson and her husband John of Dedham, MA, twins Dale and Gail Violette of Ipswich, MA; three sisters, Alice Morrow of Van Buren, Jeanne D'Arc Reynolds of Hawaii, and Claire Porter of Arizona; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren Besides her parents and former husband, Edna was predeceased by several siblings. 12533 | Van Buren--- Simone (Violette) Dubay, 86, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024 surrounded by her family. Her last few days were filled with visits from those who loved and admired her. The care she received at Borderview Rehab and Living Center along with EMMC was commendable beyond words. She was born September 15, 1937 in St. Leonard, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Romeo and Victoire (Theriault) Violette and married her beloved Cecil Dubay in 1958. Their marriage lasted 46 years until Cecil predeceased her in 2004. Simone worked most of her career for Sears Roebuck & Company eventually owning and becoming a Sears Catalog Sales Merchant in Van Buren. For many years, she served as a distinguished board member for the Gateway Federal Credit Union. Along with her full-time business, her strong work ethic and dedication led her to Borderview Rehab & Living Center caring for the elderly on weekends as a CNA for several years. She eventually became Supervisor of the Dietary Department. Working at Borderview brought her great pride and a sense of duty to those she served. She continued to advocate for residents at Borderview until her last days. Along with her love of the outdoors, she so loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and prosper. She had very special relationships with her grandchildren throughout the years, which leaves them with many cherished lifetime memories. Faith and prayers brought her peace and comfort throughout the years. Praying a daily rosary was most important to her. In her retirement years, she especially enjoyed trips to California to visit her sister and explore the West Coast. She is survived by; two daughters, Cecile Sirois and her companion, Carl Maldonado, Vie Doucette and her husband, Greg, all of Van Buren; one son, Pierre Dubay and his wife, Donna of Pelletier Island, St. Agatha; Simone's love extended to her six grandchildren, Hank (Sarah) Sirois, Michael (Alexis) Sirois, Robbie (Mandy) Dumond, Katie (Taylor) Dumond, Sarah (Bud) Soucy, Noelle and Noah Dubay; great grandchildren, Brooklynne, Henry, Maddie, Darcy, Demi, Lucy and Jacob; step-great grandchildren, Jonah, Giselle, Velina, and Kelton; five siblings, Roger (dec. Edwina) Violette, Jean Marc (Mariette) Violette, Marcella (Fred) Laforge, James (Paulette) Violette, and Joan (David) Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Simone was predeceased by her husband, and a brother, Pierre “Pit” Violette, a step-great grandson, Audric. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. She was born June 15, 1941 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Adhemar and Margaret Violette Madore. Verna owned and operated Verna’s Beauty Shop for almost 15 years. After having her children, she closed her shop to devote her years raising her loving children, and later she worked with Van Buren District Secondary School for several years as a substitute teacher. She was a long-time member of the Columbiettes and the Gateway Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed making puzzles, spending her time in her flower garden and making ceramics. She cherished the many memories she had when her loving grandchildren visited and many family gatherings. She is survived by: her husband of 53 years, Nathan J. Ouellette of Van Buren; three children, Peggy Newcomb and her husband Bob of Corinth, Jenny Sheridan and her husband Scott of Embden, and Scott “Gorp” Ouellette and his wife Becky of Van Buren; two sisters, Patsy Roy of Van Buren and Jackie Bubar and her husband Wayne of Ft. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, daughter of the late Adam and Helen (Sczempowicz) Orzech. Jean and her late brother, Teddy, were raised in Hartford. A member of the National Honor Society Jean graduated from Bulkeley HS in 1946. She went to work in accounting at The Phoenix. Jean married the late Richard Ronald "Ron" Violette in 1951 and raised three children.While Ron was still teaching, they spent several summers working for Black Hall Marina in Old Lyme. Once their children were grown, Jean re-entered the workforce as office manager for Gosselin Parking Lots. Jean was a member of the Junior League of Hartford for many years. She was also active in St. Brigid's Mother's Circle and Special Olympics of Connecticut. Jean enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, with her friends. After retirement, Jean traveled more with Ron and later with Gigi and friends.Trips took her to Europe, across country by motor-home, to Texas to visit cousins, to family in Maine, and of course Cape Cod and the Connecticut shoreline. In these last years, Jean spent time reading on her Kindle and playing all sorts of word games. Jean leaves a legacy of hospitality. She opened her doors to family members and friends young and old, taking each under her wing and bringing them into the family fold. Jean is predeceased by her husband Ron (at just under 50 years), infant son Richard Ronald II,parents, brother, Theodore A. "Ted" Orzech, and son in law, Richard C. "Chip" Quinn. Jean is survived by her son, Mark C. Violette and wife, Cynthia; two daughters, Regina A. "Gigi" Quinn, and Suzanne M. and husband, Chip Hilborn; two grandchildren, Megan Rose Hilborn and Zachary J.
