ST. ALBANS AND BRISTOL, R.I. - Claire Ida (Violette) Lacerda, 88, wife of the late Joseph Lacerda, died peacefully on December 15, 2014. Claire was born on November 8, 1926, the daughter of Pierre and Emelia (Morin) Violette.

She served as the Administrative Assistant to the town of St. Albans for nine years. After her retirement, she worked part-time at both the Hartland and Palmyra town offices and served as Notary/Justice of the Peace in Maine.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Lafontaine and her husband, Roland, of Ocala, FL, and Melanie Petit and husband, Timothy, of Bristol, RI; four sons, Thomas Mickle and wife, Maureen, of Warrenville, SC, Charles Mickle and wife, Deborah, of Fall River, MA, Joseph Lacerda and wife, Julie, of Aurora, ME, and Steven Lacerda and wife, Regina, of Hartland, ME; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her six sisters, Yvonne, Alma, Alice, Rita, Cecile and Doris; and four brothers, Ernest, Theodore, Jean and Peter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Detroit Street, in Pittsfield. A committal will immediately follow at the Maloon Cemetery in St. Albans. All are welcome to attend the reception at Grace Linn Memorial United Methodist Church in Hartland following the committal. Doris "Dolly" Y. Lalemand, 81, of Turner passed peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's on Sunday, oct. 11, with her familoy at her side at Clover Manor..

She was born in Drummond, N.B., Canada, March 9, 1928, a daughter of the late Leonard and Albertine (Caron) Violette. She married Ralph Lalemand on Dec. 4, 1948, and together they raised a wonderful family. She was a homemaker and the secretary for Ralph's Construction, her husband's family business. She had several hobbies such as traveling, camping and playing cards. She also enjoyed being outdoors, having friends and family over to her home and buying and selling antiques..

She is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Clark and companion, Butch Quimby, of Turner and Kim Redmun and husband, Scott of Turner, three sons, Wayne Lalemand and wife, Corinne, of Turner, Russell Lalemand and wife, Debbie, of Leeds and Gary Lalemand of Turner; three sisters, Vickie LeRiche of Auburn, Gertrude Murphy of Concord, N.H., and Jeannine Hess and husband, Richard of Port Edwards, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; and give great grandchildren..

She was predeceased by her beloved husband; two grandchildren, Sara May Clark and Nathan lalemand; and several brothers and sisters.

Gertrude Marie (Violette) Murphy passed away on December 1, 2020 at Harris Hill in Concord, New Hampshire at the age of 91.

She was born on May 5, 1929 Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada to her parents Leonard E Violette and Albertine (Caron) Violette. She moved to Lewiston, Maine with her parents and her 14 siblings as a child and graduated from Lewiston High School. After high school, she moved to Concord to attend New Hampshire State Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1951.

She worked for twenty-seven years at Concord Hospital and spent the last years of her career working at New Hampshire Hospital, from where she retired in 1992.

After retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer at the New Hampshire Federal Credit Union and was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She did not hesitate to give herself to her community as a volunteer and friend. But most importantly, she cherished her time with her grandchildren. She married David James Murphy Sr of Concord, New Hampshire, in 1954. Together, they raised their six children in Concord's South end. Gertrude was known for her spunk and generosity.

She was undeniably selfless and fiercely loyal to everyone she loved. She had a constant whirl of magnetic energy filled with laughter and fun. "Vi", "Gert", "Mom", "Gram", or "Mrs. Murphy"- she had the most profound and everlasting effect on everyone around her. Her smile and kind spirit will be missed by many, but will continue to inspire us and will be with us always.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her siblings.

She is survived by her six children, Jane Raymond of Boscawen, David Murphy Jr of Concord, Timothy Murphy and his wife Terry, of Concord, William Murphy of Concord, Mary Murphy of Webster, and Douglas Murphy of Concord and her eight grandchildren, Katherine Wade and her husband Sean of Franklin, Andrew Maxfield of Webster, Jonathan Raymond of Boscawen, Jessica Wade and her husband Chris of Concord, Jordan Murphy Britt and her husband Jacob of Louisville, Kentucky, Brooke Murphy and her husband Cory of South Hadley, Massachusetts, Harrison Murphy of Concord, and Bradley Murphy of Concord as well as eight great-grandchildren - one born minutes before her passing.

Port Edwards - Jeannine J. Hess, age 88 of Port Edwards, died Monday, October 21, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2019 at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Port Edwards. Rev. John Swing will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and at the church Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Park Place Adult Day Services in Wisconsin Rapids or the Alzheimer's Association.

Jeannine was born June 1, 1931 in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada to Leonard and Albertine (Caron) Violette. She married Richard Hess on December 18, 1954 in Syracuse, New York. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage together.

Jeannine was a registered nurse. Following her marriage to Richard she devoted time to her family. In earlier years, she and Richard relocated from Staten Island, NY to Rumford, Maine to Lock Haven, PA to Port Edwards, WI to Potsdam, NY and back to Port Edwards, WI. She was a member of TOPS and of the YMCA. She delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at Edgewater Haven. Jeannine was a long time member of St. Alexander Parish Council of Catholic Women. Her interests included sewing and quilting. She and Richard spent 16 years wintering in Texas.

She is survived by her husband Richard; her five children Nina (Ken) Pelo of Port Edwards, Leslie (Steve) Kozicki of Rudolph, Susan Hess of Beloit, Richard (Erin) Hess of Wisconsin Rapids and Scott (Rena) Hess of Wisconsin Rapids; 14 grandchildren Denise Pelo (fiancé Chad De Meyer), Kim (Paul) Tornow, Dane (Ashley) Kozicki, Drew (Nicole) Kozicki, Sarah Wilson, Alex Wilson, Kristin (Isaiah) Sonnenfeld, Erik (Leah) Hess, Ashley Hess, Ian Hess, Ethan Hess, Alexis (fiancé Nate Ferkey) Hess, Jennyfer (Travis) Primeau and Tyler Sedall; five great-grandchildren Truman, Arthur, Kiley, Hailey and Logan; and by one sister Gert Murphy.

Lionel Violette, 95 passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Lincoln Hills Healthcare in New Albany, IN. He was born July 24, 1924 in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada the son of Le’Vite and Flavie Albert Violette.

Lionel was an airplane mechanic in the US Army Air Corps and a veteran of WWII. He went on to become an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. He was a member of St Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife of 61 years, Cecile Michaud Violette.

He is survived by three sons, Robert Violette of Floyds Knobs, IN, James Violette of Lavallette, NJ and David Violette of Belle Mead, NJ; one daughter Jean Bell of Mountain View, CA; one brother Alex Violette of Augusta, ME; one sister Audie Lambet of Sebring, FL; five grandchildren, Jason, Kristofer, Danielle, Jacqueline, and Michael and four great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will take place Saturday October 19, 2019 at 2 PM at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, IN. There will be an hour for visitation from 1 PM until the service at 2 PM. Published in The Corydon Democrat, October 30, 2019 Page A 7.

He was one of 8 children born to Estelle (Bosse) Violette and Vital Violette. He went through local schools, enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, and was deployed to the Pacific. At the close of the war he returned to the US and attended college to study engineering at Tri-State College, Angola, IN. He returned to the Van Buren area and worked as a surveyor. In November 1952 he married Rita (Therriault) Violette and had 5 sons. In the early 60’s he moved to New Britain, CT where he raised his family and worked as a machinist for Fafnir Bearing into the late 80’s before retiring. He is survived by Rita, his wife of 66 plus years and four sons David Violette and his wife, Nikki of New Britain, James Violette and his wife Loretta of Southington CT, Patrick Violette of Plantsville CT, and Steven Violette and his wife, Nancy of Westport, CT. He is also survived by seven grandchildren who he loved, Kylee, Luke, Sarah, Noah, Michael, James and Anna Violette. Claude was preceded in death by all seven of his siblings, his daughter-in-law, Donna (Godici) Violette as well as his son, William Violette.

Leo James died at a Van Buren nursing home. He was born in Van Buren, April 14, 1925, the son of Vital E. and Estelle (Bossé Violette. He was educated in local schools and was a 1943 Van Buren Boys High School and then a 1950 graduate of Husson College. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was the recipient of two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Levasseur-Farrell, American Legion Post 49 of Van Buren and the National Association of Postmasters. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service, first as a rural carrier in Van Buren for more than 17 years and then became postmaster at St. David for more than 14 years. He also worked for many years at Fongemie Ford Sales in Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie (Roy) Violette of Van Buren; three sons and their wifes, Charles and Sharon Violette of Pleasant Hill, Ohio; Michael and Eileen Violette of Townsend, Mass.; Richard and Sue Violette of Van Buren; four brothers, Emery Violette and Robert Violette, both of Van Buren, Claude Violette of New Britain, Conn., and P. Eugene Violette of Edwardsville, Ill; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Adelaide Lapierre and by two brothers, Martin Violette and Elmer Violette. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, April 6, at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery later this spring.

ST. JOHN VALLEY Emery Violette, 80, died March 11 at a Caribou hospital. He was born in Van Buren, Sept. 3, 1923, the son of Vital and Estelle (Bosse) Violette. He was a graduate of Van Buren Boys High School and attended Hussan College in Bangor. He worked for severa1 years on the family potato farm. He also worked in the family grocery store as a meat cutter, purchasing the business in 1955 and operating it until 1970. He then went to work for the town of Van Buren as its General Assistance administrator and municipal employee until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1635 of Van Buren and an honorary life member of the Fourth Degree Assembly .0349. He served on the Credit Committee of the Gateway Federal Credit Union for several years. He is survived by one son, Jeff Violette, and his wife, Karen, of Brunswick; one daughter-in-law, Lynn Violette, of Manchester, N. H.; three brothers, Robert Violette, of Van Buren; Claude Violette, of ‘New Britain Conn., and, P. Eugene Violette, of Edwardsville, 111.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He wi11’ also be missed by his special friends and neighbors, Gene and Linda Madore, of Van Buren. He was predeceased by his wife, Philippa (Gagnon) Violette, in 2001; two sons, Kenneth Violette and Philip Violette; one grandson, Kenneth Violette; one sister, Adelaide Lapierre; and by three brothers, Martin Violette, Elmer Violette, and Leo James Violette. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 15, at the St.Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will
be in the parish cemetery.

Robert A. Violette, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on October 28, 1933, in Van Buren, a son of the late Vital and Estelle (Bosse) Violette.
Robert graduated from former Van Buren Boys High School in 1951 and married Gloria Berube in 1954. He worked his entire career as a logging contractor in the Portage, Ashland, and Allagash forests, concluding his career in and around the Van Buren area. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the St. Bruno's Parish Council and as a Eucharistic Minister, board member of Van Buren Light and Power, Van Buren town councilman, President of Champlain School PTA, and a former parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church. After moving to Scarborough, Robert continued to enjoy connecting with his family and friends in Van Buren. He was an avid reader, outdoorsman, and thoroughly enjoyed operating heavy-equipment. He and his wife spent many happy years visiting with family and friends, RVing around the country and in Canada.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Gloria (Berube) Violette of Scarborough, formerly of Van Buren; four daughters, Roberta Adair and her partner, Don Boucher, of Otisfield, Ann Theriault and her husband, Dan, of Washington, Susan Violette of North Carolina, and Denise Violette of Presque Isle; three sons, Peter Violette and his wife, Alice, of Windham, John Violette and his wife, Yolanda, of Mercer, and Brian Violette and his wife, Gretchen, of Van Buren; his brother, Claude Violette and his wife, Rita, of Connecticut; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Adelade Lapierre, his brothers, Elmer, Emery, James, Martin, and Eugene Violette, and a son-in-law, Scott Adair.
