For several years, Mrs. Thibodeau worked for the former Sorenson Bakery. She was formerly in charge of the Layette Club which was associated with Deering Pavillion. They knitted head caps and sweaters for premature infants in the area hospitals. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Her husband, Ronell Thibodeau, died in 1971. Surviving are three sons, Gerard F. Thibodeau of Manchester, Conn., Louis P. Thibodeau of Seaford, Del., and Joseph R. Thibodeau of Aurora, Ill.; two daughters, Maxine Cavallaro of Portland and Rochelle Monroe of Charleston, S.C.; a stepsister, Clair Diona of Montreal; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Abel and Frances (Patten) Violette. She was a graduate of Van Buren High School. Flora was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She was also employed at L.S. Hall and Martin’s Clothing, Caribou, for a number of years. She was a member of Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of United Methodist Women’s Group. Flora was also a member of Caribou Extension and Caribou Hoofers. She is survived by a son, James Philbrick and his wife, Valerie, of Caribou; three daughters, Florina L. Willis of Hamden, Ruth W. Bryant and her husband, Kenneth, of Winthrop and Janet Chandler of Lincoln; one sister, Hattie Gahagan of Manchester, Conn.; seven grandchildren Michele Theriault, Heather Perry, Trenton Chandler, Mairi St.Amand, Andrew Bryant, Jennifer Sherman and Lacie Philbrick; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Coleman, Woodrow and Alphy Violette. 3117 | DOB, DOM: Lippe pg 213 DOD: obit BANGOR - Joseph O. Violette, 89, passed away peacefully March 18, 2013, surrounded by his family. Joe was born July 8, 1923, in Keegan, to Severin and Marguerite (Martin) Violette. He was one of nine children. Joe graduated from Van Buren High School in 1943 and then immediately entered the U.S. Army Infantry to serve our country in North Africa, Italy and France, as an anti-tank gun crewman. When he returned to Maine he enrolled in the Bangor School of Commerce, where he graduated with an associate degree in accounting. He later received an honorary Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Husson College in 1995. Joe began his career at Bangor Roofing as an accountant. From there he worked as the comptroller at Stanley J. Leen Electric, Brewer, until his retirement. Joe was also a business entrepreneur buying, renovating and renting apartment houses and co-owning Dunkin' Donuts franchises in Brunswick, Presque Isle and Bucksport. Joe married Beatrice LeVasseur from Limestone, June 14, 1948. They raised four "awesome" children. He will be remembered for his kind, generous and outgoing nature. He loved to tell jokes, especially "corny" ones, which the family refers to as "Joe jokes." He dedicated his life to providing for his family. He enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of Penobscot Valley Country Club. After retiring he and Bea spent many enjoyable winters at their home in Florida. Joe belonged to the Bangor Jaycees, Lion's Club and Knights of Columbus. He initiated St. Mary's St. Matthews Federal Credit Union in 1964 and was president for many years. Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice; his four children, Norma Gomez and husband, Mike, Catherine Violette, Mark Violette and his wife, Pamela, and Lisa Norsworthy and husband, David; grandchildren, Erin Valenzula, Kelly Mullhern, Alexander and Blake Violette and Jeffrey Lovely, Katie, Jake and Michelle Norsworthy; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Theresa Violette, Simonne Violette, Lorraine Gagnon and Priscilla Blier; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Carmen Couturier; and brothers, Louis, Martin and O'Neil Violette. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff of Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, and Community Health and Counseling Services Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. Isabelle married the love of her life, Fernand Beaupre, June 28, 1948. The couple lived on their farm in North Caribou for 58 years, where she was a homemaker and raised their four children. Isabelle was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a past president of Ladies of St. Anne. Her family and friends knew her as a person who enjoyed gardening, working with crafts, and watching and feeding the many birds around her home. Isabelle was predeceased by her husband, Fernand, in 2007; four sisters, Corinne Martin, Gladys Dionne, Jeanne Levesque and Gertrude Cote; and three brothers, George, Emile and Marc Violette. Mr. Violette worked as a carpenter and upholsterer for most of his life and was well known as a prankster. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Fernande "Fern" (Dubois) Violette, of Plainville; his four daughters, Carol Violette of Plainville, Della Paxi and her husband Martin of Newington, Diane Grey and her husband Patrick of Enoree, SC and Becky Musumano and her husband Chris of Bristol; his grandchildren, Scott Grey and his wife Alison, Susan Grey, Duncan, Cole and Raven Musumano, and Gabriela and Isabel Paxi; his great-grandchildren, Liam and Lucas Grey; his sisters, Theresa Masse, Annie Fongemie and Stella Duplessis and many nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Herman, who predeceased her. Born in Van Buren, Maine on December 1, 1928, Yvonne was one of seventeen children to the late Severin and Caroline (Cyr) Violette. Raised in the same town, she and Herman's family shared a long history together, and moved to Connecticut following their marriage where they raised their four children. Yvonne worked for Connecticut Spring for a brief time, before handling the bookkeeping for her husband's company, H & N Construction. A longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Yvonne made a hobby of making various types of crafts, and had a love for all flowers, taking great pleasure in working in her yard and her gardens. Above all, she was a devoted mother and beloved grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her adored family, leaving many cherished memories. She is survived by her sons, Melvin and his wife, Anne-Marie, James and his wife, Joyce, and Gary Masse; her grandchildren, Dwayne, Heather, Robin, Michael, and Scott; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother and sisters, Theresa Masse, Annie Fongemie, Stella Duplessis and Percy Violette and many nieces and nephews. 3135 | DOB, DOM: Lippe pg 218 Robert Gerard Violette, 70, of Old Orchard Beach, died Tuesday afternoon, March 22, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Lewiston, on Jan. 12, 1935, the son of Ludovic and Gladys (LeBrun) Violette. He attended Lewiston schools. He worked in construction for many years, as a member of the Carpenters and Millwrights Local 407, even serving as the financial secretary for a number of years. In 1977, he and his wife, Jeanne, moved to Old Orchard Beach and constructed and ran the Neptune Motel, which was sold in 2004. He was a member of the Richelieu Club and was active on the Old Orchard Planning Board until 1989, when he suffered a stroke that paralyzed his left side. He was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard. He and his wife enjoyed going on cruises, as well as traveling to Florida and Foxwoods. He gave nicknames to many friends and family members, often teasing that he was an angel. The tourist children agreed, adding that he was “L’Ange Noir avec des Cornes” (The Black Angel with Horns). He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jeanne Filteau; two sons, Gregory and his wife, Michelle, of Limerick and Thomas and his wife, Janice, of Springvale; one daughter, Kathy and husband, Gregory Butterfield, of Old Orchard Beach; two brothers, Arthur and Roland; two sisters, Rita and Theresa; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandsons; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. Born May 20, 1914, in Bradley, she was the daughter of Freeman and Lena (Blanchard) Violette. Mabel was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Bradley and was a parishioner all of her life. She enjoyed gardening, reading, visiting Schoodic Point and attending Mass. She is remembered for her fondness of knitting, which included beautiful afghans for new brides and crocheting outfits for newborn babies in the family. She was predeceased by husband, Donald Michaud, Dec. 26, 1986; an infant son, Donat Michaud; a daughter, Patricia Bradley; her son-in-law, Jerome Bradley; four sisters, Melvina Madore, Clara Violette, Evelyn Morrison and Elizabeth Madore; and one brother, Arthur Violette. Mabel is survived by five grandchildren, Teresa Chester of Athens, Ala., Susan Simms and her husband, Jon, of Hampden, Dr. James Bradley of Las Cruces, N.M., John Bradley and his wife, Sharon, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., and Kathy Caron and her husband, Tom, of Bangor; 10 great-grand-children, Jenny, Cindy, Jimmy Chester, Brad and Shannon Simms, Taylor and Christopher Bradley, Nicholas Bradley, and Abby and Meaghan Caron; five nieces, Violet Smith and her husband, Paul, of Old Town, Loretta Robichaud and her husband, Butch, of Eddington, Donna Convery and her husband, Ray, of Winthrop, and Sheila Violette of Massachusetts, Celeste Curtis and her husband, Dick, of Bangor; one nephew, Dale Violette of Bradley; and special friends, Joan Brown, Alfreda Savoy, Bernie Duerkop, Zane and Roxanne Byron, and Anna McAlpine. The family extends a special thank you to her physician Dr. Elizabeth Laverack and Kathy Flagg for years of compassionate care. 3150 | DOB, DOM: Lippe pg 227 Jane A. Miner, 76, of Holden, peacefully passed away in her home on February 24, 2022. She was born March 1, 1945, in Lewiston to John Violette and Marguerite (Letendre) Violette. Jane graduated from St. Dominic's Academy in 1963, as the first female valedictorian. She taught high school English and French in Eastport. But found her calling, working 32 years for the Department of Health and Human Services in Bangor. In 1975 she married the love of her life, Thomas S. Miner Jr. and they had two children, Gary Anthony Miner and Mandy Lee (Miner) McFadden. Jane exuberated love and kindness in everything she did and with everyone she met. She enjoyed traveling, camping, swimming, fishing and was an avid walker. She also enjoyed the fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers from Tom's gardens. Jane was predeceased by her son, Gary Miner; and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Miner of Holden; daughter, Mandy McFadden of Boise ID; grandchildren, Gavon S. McFadden of Warrenton, OR, and Cayden and Dawson Miner of Glenburn; and her brothers, Robert Violette and John Violette of Lewiston and Ronald Violette of Raynhan, MA. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 1 to 3 pm. Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
