3151 | DOB, DOM: Lippe pg 227 Robert Edward Violette, “Bob”, 76, of Lewiston, went to Heaven, though unexpectedly, on Oct. 25, 2023, alongside his longtime love, Lucy. Bob was a retired Sears Mechanic, who recently worked for Lee Cars in Auburn, and was most recently enjoying his retirement. He was born and raised in Lewiston and was a son of John H. Violette and Marguerite (Letendre) Violette. Though he was a lifelong resident of Lewiston, Bob had earlier traveled the country as a truck driver and saw much of the world while serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He met and married the love of his life, Lucille (Hartford) Violette and together they created a loving home with their most valuable assets, their three sons. Bob was a proud father, and grandfather, always finding a way to be exactly what his family needed, the rock of the family. Bob was a man of integrity, love and kindness, and knew how to make you smile. He was patient, and had a true passion for sharing wisdom, life lessons and teaching in any capacity. These attributes made him a well-received coach for the Youth Bowling League for many years, where he volunteered every Wednesday night as an extra practice night, in addition to Youth League Saturdays, to offer additional guidance for the children who participated in the sport. Through his years of coaching he developed close connections with numerous children and families, and truly enjoyed watching them grow and evolve. Bob has touched countless lives in this capacity and had a particularly close bond with a child he coached, Owen B. When Bob was not coaching bowling, he was either bowling in a men’s league, bowling in a couples league with his wife, or spending time with his family. Bob leaves behind a legacy that is irreplaceable, teaching his children and grandchildren to always put family first, and so many things that his surviving family hold dear to their hearts. His love and guidance lives on in all of our hearts, as well as his warm embrace and big hugs. Bob is predeceased by his parents, John H. Violette and Marguerite Violette, as well as his sister, Jane Miner. Bob is survived by his son, Andrew Violette of Leeds, son Thomas Violette of Lewiston, son John Violette and wife Cassandra Violette currently of Oklahoma, as well as six grandchildren, Joshua, Conner, Owen, Chloe, Madelyn and Hannah Violette, as well as brothers, John H. Violette Jr. of Lewiston and Ron Violette of Massachusetts. The family invites you to a time of visitation on Monday November 6, from 4-7 p.m., at Fortin Group Funeral Home, 217 Turner St., AUBURN. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday November 7, at 10 a.m., at East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Ave. Auburn. A private family committal will take place following the service. | Violette, Robert Edward (P5025)

3164 | DOB, DOM: Lippe pg 235 Youngest of 17 children according to obit, but a review of all census data didn't uncover any missing children, so it is possible this was a typo. Maine Marriage Index has 1 Aug 1961 Errata: 631m) correct date of m to 1-8-1961 Harold Violette 1937 - 2015 WINSLOW - Harold "Tank" Violette, 77, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Aug. 4, 2015. He was born in Van Buren, to Octave and Ozithe Violette and was the youngest of 17 children. His family moved to Waterville when he was a young boy. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1956 and the University of Maine at Orono in 1960. While at UMO, Harold met the love of his life, Harriet. While at Maine, he became a football legend, earning the nickname of "Tank." Following graduation, Harold started his career as a coach at Lawrence High School under Dick McGee. From there he moved to Belfast, teaching and coaching, where he won his first championships. He returned to Winslow in 1969 where he stayed as football coach until his retirement in 1984. Harold was known primarily for his 16 years as Winslow's Head Football Coach but he also coached ice hockey, golf, wrestling and baseball when they needed a coach. Harold stepped down from Winslow's football program in 1984 to free up his Saturdays and attend his son's UMO football games for the next three years. Colby College quickly offered Harold an Assistant Coach Position but allowed him to skip any games that conflicted with UMO's game schedule. Harold went on to become Winslow's Athletic Director until he ultimately retired. Harold had a lasting influence on his many athletes, students, friends and community members. Leading by example, he has often been spoken of as a builder and strengthener of characteristics including work ethic, pride, respect, confidence, discipline, compassion and teamwork - on and off the field. Since his retirement, Harold has remained the most dedicated of Black Raider fans and was still climbing the ladder to his seat in the football field's Coaches booth this past season. He valued his friendships deeply and in addition to poker and the 107 Coffee Club, he treasured time sharing laughs, stories and the ups and downs of life with his buddies. Having been presented with many treasured honors and accolades over the years, Harold cherished his family most of all. He and Harriet often traveled to visit their children and grandchildren, attended many games and didn't miss any of the significant events of their family. His grandson took pride in having 'Papa' as his private football coach and his granddaughters were equally appreciative of his attendance at some of the 'girlier' affairs such as dance recitals. His easy smile, laughter, insightful guidance and love will remain in their hearts always. Harold is survived by his wife of 54 years, Harriet Hunter Violette; daughter, Debbie Hegarty (Frank) of Buxton, and son, Steve (Sue) of Gulf Breeze, Fla. Harold was the proud, never-too-busy 'Papa' of four grandchildren, Nick and Allison Hegarty and Caitlin and Rebecca Violette. Harold is also survived by his brother, Conrad, and sister, Theresa Poulin. Harold was predeceased by his parents, Ozithe and Octave; an infant son, Harold Jr.; as well as 14 sisters and brothers. A Celebration of Life mass will be preceded by time for visitation with the family and friends at St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Visitation will begin at 9:15 and the mass will begin at 11 a.m. Services are under the care and direction of Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street Waterville. | Violette, Harold Octave "Tank" (P5192)

3198 | DOB, DOM: Lippe pg 265 VAN BUREN - Clarence Violette, 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 1, 2021, at a Caribou hospital. He was born May 27, 1935, in Van Buren, a son of the late Leo and Annette (Dube) Violette. He started working at a young age for a construction company at Loring Air Force Base, Limestone. On November 25, 1953, Clarence married the love of his life, Stella Lapointe, and shortly later relocated to Connecticut for better work opportunities. He worked several construction jobs in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York, until they decided to buy a mobile home. The purchase of the mobile home launched Clarence and Stella on a journey for the next ten years with their young sons, Michael and Richard. With EFCO, he worked large-scale construction projects in New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and Long Island, New York. Eventually, they settled in Westbrook, CT, in 1966, where they started to build their first home, and, following the birth of their son, Patrick, in 1967, moved into the new home just before Christmas. They remained in Westbrook until Clarence retired in 1998, where he spent 43 years with EFCO, and climbed the ranks to District Manager for New England. Following retirement, he and his wife relocated back to their hometown of Van Buren, Maine, where they moved into and renovated his parents' home. Clarence spent countless hours volunteering in Westbrook, where he became a loyal parishioner at St. Mark's Church, a Trustee of the Parish, and he oversaw many renovations to the church's buildings. He was a member of the volunteer fire department/ambulance association in Westbrook and an assistant troop leader for the Boys Scouts of America. During his retirement, he was instrumental in the renovation of St. Bruno - St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren, in 2002.
