At the age of fourteen Pierre spent the winter with the indians around the site
of what is now Edmundston N.B.

About 1784 he set up a trading post near Edmundston N.B. along with Pierre
Duperre.

A few years later his name appears on a petition for land grants in Madawaska.
He was in what is now Fredericton at that time. And settled in Madawaska along
with the Acadians from the lower St. John river. His experience with the
indians of Madawaska and his knowledge of the area most likely influenced the
Acadians to settle in Madawaska.

He became a Captain of Infantry.
