Hampden - Lea (Violette) Ouellette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world unexpectedly on January 4, 2024, at the age of 73. Even though a failing heart took her from this world, her big heart leaves a beacon of light for all.
Lea was born on April 9, 1950, in Van Buren, ME, to Gabriel and Gerry Violette. She now joins her brother, Micheal, who passed away this fall. Lea resided in Hampden, ME, with her loving husband Donald, who was her partner, soulmate, and best friend of 53 years. The simplest pleasures in life brought her pure joy. Lea loved spending time with her family and friends whether it was going on family vacations, taking girl trips, or playing cards. She loved to make scrapbooks that captured beautiful memories throughout the years. She also loved making puzzles, crafting, and spending lots of money at Micheal's and Hobby Lobby! She always looked forward to daily FaceTime calls from her grandchildren, they held such a special place in her heart. In the evenings you would find Lea relaxing in her recliner with a chilled Pepsi, Lays potato chips, her dog Gabe in her lap, and her husband Donald alongside her.
Lea was one of the strongest, most humble, and caring humans in this world. She brought much light and laughter through her silly and sassy jokes. Leah could put a smile on anyone's face. She truly touched the lives of everyone around her. She showed us what love, loyalty, and the true meaning of family is. Lea will be deeply missed and remains forever in our hearts.

The grease from the engines seemed stained on his hands as throughout his life he was always under the hood of hotrods, machinery or family cars. He was a master at building and fixing things.

He was an Owner Operator of heavy equipment as a trade, a “Blademan" – the master class operator of the project. He was well known and respected for his expertise and mentored many young operators over his career including his son Will, son-in law Dan and son (in spirit) Ralph Roberts. He took great pride in his work, which included building many of the freeways in Southern California, countless commercial and residential sites, even the parking lot of Disneyland!

Jason considered himself “A Good Ol’ Country Boy” and enjoyed ballad style country music, fishing and “old stuff.” His fascination with old stuff ran deep in his veins. He often said, “If only this stuff could talk!” His curiosity and love for life was contagious.

His obsession with fishing started at a very young age and was ingrained in his character. Among his families’ fondest memories are the times that he spent patiently teaching family and friend alike, to fish. After retirement Jason and Mary lived on their 260-acre homestead in Red Bluff California with 2 ponds and plenty of room to roam and fish.

Then there was Jason’s amazing sense of humor and love of a good joke or story. He was a true optimist and lover of life itself. Anytime he was asked, “How ya’ doin’ Jason?” his answer was ALWAYS “Fantastic!”

With the deepest grief imaginable, Jason battled Alzheimer’s in his last years. His memory faded and he slowly lost his ability to communicate. In spite of this, his humor and kindness never left his heart. The words “Thank you kindly” were recognizable even as the disease progressed.

Jason was a devout Catholic, remarkable human being, loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

There are few persons on this earth that could fill his shoes. To say he was deeply loved and highly esteemed is an understatement. Jason’s absence in our lives will leave an immense void until we have the joy of seeing him again in eternity.

Joseph Belanie Violette, Jr.
1922 - 2017
Resident of Corte Madera
Joseph Violette, aged 95, passed away on September 14, 2017. Joe was born and raised in Independence, Oregon – a small farming community. After High School he attended Oregon State where he was in the ROTC, signed up for the Enlisted Reserves and attended Officers Candidate School before being called to active duty for World War II, interrupting his college studies. Joe served for 4 years, spending time stationed in Okinawa, Japan, rising to the rank of Captain and Commanding Officer of the Engineer Heavy Shop Company.
After returning from military duty, he completed his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Oregon State and a Master's degree in Engineering from Yale. After graduation, Joe moved to the Northern California Bay Area. He was able to reconnect with his High School sweetheart Glenna and they began dating again. They were married in 1949 and had 66 wonderful years together until Glenna's passing in 2016.
Joe had his first civilian job working at Standard Oil and its subsidiary California Research & Development (CR&D). It was there that Joe got his first taste of Operational Management in the design and construction of a small research nuclear reactor. That experience led to his career choice that spanned almost 50 years. Joe was most proud of being the Mechanical Engineer assigned to manage the designing and building of General Electric's Vallecitos Boiling Water Reactor. He was also there when it was de-commissioned in 1962. He enjoyed the annual GE reunion get-togethers in Livermore where he loved exchanging stories about those days. Joe went on to manage several more nuclear reactor construction projects in New Jersey, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania. He and Glenna also temporarily relocated to Tokyo, Japan for 3 years as Bechtel's technical representative interfacing with Hitachi, Toshiba and Mitsubishi.
Joe was a cherished gift to his daughters. He was always there to support them, coming up with logical solutions to any of their problems and was always in demand for his building skills. On many weekends you could find him at one of his daughter's home doing maintenance or building projects, which he enjoyed. He loved spending time with family for celebrations and vacations.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Margaret, Oral and Lowell. He is survived by his 2 daughters Charmene McClarren and Corinne Grant, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Those we love can never be more than a thought away. Memories of Joe will live in our hearts always.
A Private celebration of life will be held. Interment will be at Valley Memorial Park in Novato.
