5412 | DOB: Lippe pg 213 Theresa M. Violette passed from this world on September 25, 2019 just 18 days before her 95th birthday. She was born in Keegan, Maine, the daughter of Severin and Margeurite Violette, and grew up in Van Buren with her parents and 8 siblings. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Van Buren, Theresa (aka TT) worked as a phone operator on the graveyard shift, and she liked to joke about how her job made her privy to all the town's gossip. Eventually, she settled in Bangor and worked for the phone company until her retirement in the mid-80's. She loved retirement and immensely enjoyed "puttering" around the house doing projects, lovingly caring for her blackberry patch and tomatoes, and always making sure her local family had her special "TT fudge" and bread for holidays. She took a quilting class and would hand-quilt lovely blankets. She was also a wonderful knitter and many of us benefited from her afghans. Theresa was a bright light and a loving constant to her family. She had many nieces and nephews that thought of her as a second mother. We could always depend on her warmth, hugs, encouragement, and wonderful sense of humor. As her health declined in recent years, she moved to Dirigo Pines where she quickly won over the staff by, as was reported to her family, her "unfailingly pleasant" personality. The family would like to thank them for their care and love. Theresa is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Gagnon of Greenville, SC and Priscilla Blier and husband Roland of Bridgeport, CT and too many nieces and nephews to mention. | Violette, Therese M. 5449 | DOB: Lippe pg 222 & Maine Record of Birth On 19 Feb 1945 there was an ariticle title Victory Bound, in the Bangor Daily News written by a John O'Connell, Jr. In the article there was mention about three Catholic Sisters from Van Buren, Maine who had gone to France for their novitiate, which is usually two years, but then WWII happened. In order to protect the three sisters they were sent far from Paris. One was Sister M. Fidele who was according to the article Germaine Violette, who was actually Blanche Geraldine (the artcile incorrectly had Germaine instead of Geraldine) and she was described as being "one of the best teachers they have had in the girls' school." The article went on to mention her brother PFC. Paul Emile Violette who had been wounded and was in an American hospital in France. Sister M. Fidele safely returned to the United States on 16 March 1947 aboard the S.S. Aquitania. | Violette, Blanche Geraldine Rel. Sr. (P4915)
