5453 | DOB: Lippe pg 223 AUGUSTA - Richard R. Violette, 83, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at the newly opened Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born April 3, 1930, in Augusta, the son of Frank and Lena (Shaw) Violette. Richard attended Augusta schools. He married Rachel R. Dostie in 1950. He was a veteran who served in the Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Richard worked at Bates Manufacturing, then worked many years for the state of Maine as a carpenter foreman, retiring in 1987. He then started North Augusta Lawn and Garden and built Capital City Golf Course, retiring again in 2002. He was a communicant of St. Augustine Church in Augusta, a member of the Benevolent Order of the Elks and a member of the ½ Century Club of Le Club Calumet. One of his favorite things to do was to play cards with his Monday night group at the Le Club Calumet. Richard loved snowmobiling and fishing at his camp in Rangeley. His true passion was inventing. Richard was always figuring out how to make things better and easier. He holds patents for a shoe with retractable spikes and an adjustable trailer hitch and leaves us with many ideas to pursue. Richard is survived by his wonderful wife of 63 years, Rachel (Dostie) Violette; his daughter, Joyce Sawtelle, and significant other Bart Chamberlain, of Readfield; a son, Randy Violette, of Manchester; three grandchildren, Logan Violette, Mason Violette and Alyson Violette; many great-nieces, -nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Norman, George, Donald, Clement, Ralph and Leo; and sisters Ida Dobien, Theresa Kelly and Rose Liscomb; and granddaughter Paige Sawtelle. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MaineGeneral Medical Center in remembrance of Richard. He was the first to pass at the new hospital, which is on the property he once owned. She lived in Auburn her entire life. She married Paul Pelletier on July 27, 1996.Eileen graduated from Edward Little High School with the class of 1980. She began working at Cottle’s at the age of 16 and continued working there through its transition to Hannaford Bros., retiring from there as a Customer Service Manager in 2000. After a brief retirement, she returned to work in 2007 as a Toll Collector for the Maine Turnpike Authority, where she remained working until March of 2020.When not working Eileen enjoyed spending her time on her deck or in her swimming pool with her family and friends; most likely taking pictures or a video of everyone. Eileen was an avid reader and when not reading she was cross stitching; most likely a Christmas stocking, a baby blanket, or a frameable picture scene.Eileen was predeceased by her parents; her sister Nancy Violette Steele; and her niece Amanda Steele. 5456 | DOB: Lippe pg 228 Frenchville---Steven H. Violette, 69, of Frenchville, Maine passed away peacefully at Northern Maine Medical Center on October 24th following a courageous battle with cancer. Steven was born on December 21, 1954 in Lewiston, Maine to parents Gabrielle and Francis Violette. After graduation from Lewiston High School, he studied electronics at Central Maine Community College. Following college, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served on active duty from 1974-1978. He was an AQ4, stationed aboard the USS Saratoga based in Air Station, Virginia. He was awarded a good conduct medal in 1976. Following his time in the service, he went on to work for NASA on assignment in the Marshall Islands measuring tectonic plate shifts to help predict earthquake activity. Steven had a brilliant mind for engineering and worked as an automation technician for Gates and then Watts Water Technologies before retiring in 2016. He had an adventurous zest for life and enjoyed spending time with his beloved pets, exploring the great outdoors, tending to his plants, looking at the stars through his telescope, and camping in Baxter State Park with family and friends. A sports enthusiast, he loved watching the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics, as well as attending his children and grandchildren's baseball and softball games as a spectator, fan and occasional volunteer umpire. Steven is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen Violette of Frenchville; four children, Jenny Gleason of Auburn, Andrya Duteau and husband Armand of Lewiston, Scott Violette and wife Shannon of West Paris, Coleen Elias of Litchfield; siblings Susan Violette Palange and husband Andrew of Lewiston, David Violette and wife Kristina of Lewiston, Gail Coolidge and husband Charles of Mechanic Falls, and Gary Violette and wife Barbara of Auburn; 11 grandchildren, Kyle, Taylor-Rae, Alissa, Mckenna, Alivia, Jackson, Kelsey, Mckinley, Ashton, Avey and Ayla; 2 great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Mason, several nieces and nephews, and special friend Pat Quinn. He was predeceased by his parents Gabrielle and Francis Violette and siblings Danny Violette and Sandra (Violette) Gammon. He was a well-known businessman. He devoted his life to his family. Jim was involved in his children’s activities, especially basketball and golf. He loved to golf, ride his motorcycle and the outdoors. Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sue; his daughter, Kristin; his son, Jeremy; his parents, Norman and Dorothy Violette; his brother, Mark; his sisters, Carleen Collins and Carol Bennett; nieces, nephew, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Caribou, a daughter of Walter and Yvonne (Derosier) Violette. After moving to Corinna at a young age, Peggy attended Corinna Union Academy, and later received her general education development diploma from Nokomis Regional High. Peggy and her husband lived in East Hartford, Conn., for more than 30 years, returning to Corinna in 1970. During World War II, she worked for Hamilton Standard Propellers, and later, Olivetti Underwood Typewriter Co. She retired from Dexter Shoe Co. in 1982. Peggy was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter. She was a member of St. Anne's Ladies Guild and the Golden Age Club. Peggy was an avid reader, bingo player, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, as well as puzzle-making. Prayerful and faith-filled, she especially enjoyed her collection of angels. She is survived by a sister, Imelda "Millie" Violette of Corinna; several nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, John; sisters Artheline Gilbert, Doris Darling, Jeannette Votour and Geraldine Lambert. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Died at EMMC, Bangor, Maine, January 3, 2021, after a 4 year battle with cancer; his wife of 61 years Donna (Candage) Violette holding his hand. Levi worked with his father at Violette's Auto Body Shop on Main Street in Bucksport until 1964 when he went to work for St. Regis Paper Co. He retired from Champion Paper as a foreman in 1998. Levi rebuilt 2 older homes, repaired and restored many cars & trucks, and fixed anything that needed repair. Levi planted and maintained a large vegetable garden on his little family farm in Penobscot. Levi was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and made some of his own clubs. He was always there for his family and supported their love of animals, especially horses and dogs. After retirement, he and Donna spent time between their homes on Toddy Pond, in Orland, Maine, and Zephyrhills, Florida. He is survived by his children, Regina (Gean) Violette of Orland, Maine; sons Levi P. and wife, Heidi of Belgrade, Maine, and Robert G. and wife, Barbara of Orland, Maine. Daughter, like: Nancy Bowden Bishop and her husband, Dennis of Jacksonville, Florida. Sisters Jean Melcher of Lake Worth, Florida. Arlene Bennett and husband, Richard of Vero Beach, Florida. Joyce Clement and husband, David of Iron Mountain, Michigan. His brother, Larry, and partner, Angela Somers of Sullivan, Maine. A special thanks to Larry for standing by through both the good and the hard times. She was born Oct. 26, 1953, in Van Buren, to Wilmot "Boy" Violette and Joyce Learnard Violette. She graduated from Van Buren District High School 1972 and Maine Cosmetology School, Portland, in 1973. She moved to Las Vegas and met the love of her life, Marion "Mau" Paryga, where they started their family. Sandra never met a stranger and was loved by many. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, homemaker and beautician. Her favorite vacation spot was the coast of Maine, while dining on Maine lobster and New England clam chowder. Thrift shopping and playing bingo were special times for her. She especially enjoyed spending quiet time with her family at their lakeside camp in Utah during the summer months. Sandra was predeceased by her sister, Laury; father, Wilmot "Boy" Violette; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Christine and Bruno Par-yga. She is survived by her loving husband, Marion "Mau"; son, Taylor; daughter, Chelsea, all of Las Vegas; her mother, Joyce Violette of Caribou; sister, Elaine and Bob Lebel of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Daniel and Brenda Violette of Lexington, Ky.; brother, Rodney Violette of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Helen and Bob Hinz; brother-in-law, Cas Paryga; sister-in-law, Lucy and Bill Weeks, all of Tinley Park, Ill.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many beloved friends.
