837 | Andy enlisted in the 7th Cavary Troop "B" at Fort Bliss Texas on May 5th, 1914. Fought in Mexico against Poncho Villa. He was discharged in 1918. He reenlisted on June 11th, 1919 at Fort Bliss and joined "Troop F" of the 7th Cavalry. Spent some time in the Philippines; then as the Cavalry became mechanized, he became a mechanic. He was honorably discharged as a Sargeant from Motor Transport Company # 52 on April 26th, 1921. He tried to reenlist in WWII but was too old. Did various jobs and later became a Customs Inspector in San Francisco and the San Francisco Airport. Took a leave from Customs to work at Bethlehem Steel building ships during WWII. 842 | Armand Violette 1920-2005 At Foyer Notre-Dame Nursing Home, Saint-Leonard, August 5, 2005, Armand Violette of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes passed away at the age of 84 years. He was married to the former Nora Beaulieu. Born at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in 1920, he was a son of the late Victor and Sophie (Gauvin) Violette. Mr. Violette was a member of the Saint-Joseph Society. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Marcel of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, two granddaughters, Paula Violette and Sylvie Violette (Joey Levesque), two great grandsons, Joshua and Kaylan, two sisters, Leone Cyr of Lewiston, Maine and Donata Voisine of Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska, three brothers, Melquis (Alda) of Saint-Leonard, Claude (Rolande) and Lorenzo (Irene) of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Armande Violette. His funeral will be held Monday, August 8th at 11 a.m. from the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in the church one half hour prior to the funeral service as well as after the mass in the parish hall.
