Names of their parents are not on the parish marriage record, but is on the 3 January 1715 marriage contract. Spelling as VIOLLET on original church record, subsequent records show VIOLET. Richard was born in Skowhegan, Maine. He grew up in Maine and Rhode Island and lived many years in Virginia before settling in Florida. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Korean war. Richard graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor of arts degree. He pursued a career with the civil service, which allowed him to travel the world. Richard loved books of every subject, particularly history and would read 4 - 5 each week. His favorite places were the library and the local bookstore. Richard is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Michele and Mike Straney and Martine and Scott Grish; four grandchildren, Justin, Kristen and Courtney Lawson and Connor Grish; brother, Donald and sister-in-law, Josie. He is also survived by the mother of their daughters, Colette Gill. He was predeceased by his beloved companion of many years, Betty Crook and his brother, Robert; Life without Betty was extremely tough for him. As per his wishes, Richard's ashes will be scattered at a location special to his heart. His daughters plan a private memorial service to honor him. 9533 | Donna Mary Chase, 74, of Gwinn, died peacefully, Monday morning, November 2, 2015, at her home, with her family by her side and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice. She was born August 31, 1941 in Danforth, Maine, a daughter of the late Walter and Edith (Craig) Lee. On December 30, 1963 she married Louis David Chase in Orington, Maine and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2015. Donna and her family had resided in Gwinn since 1971. She was a member of the Gwinn VFW Auxiliary and was an avid quilter, enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Donna is survived by a son, Michael (Leona) Chase of Wilmont, MN; grandchildren, Ann Marie (Brent) Paulus of Worthington, MN and Michael Chase, Jr., stationed in Hawaii while serving aboard the USS Chafee; great-grandchild, Alexander John Chase of New Mexico; sisters, Hazel Anderson of Saratoga, CA, Joyce (Frank) Fish of Lincoln, ME and Sharon Snyder of Enfield, CT; and several nieces & nephews. 9534 | Doris M. Poulin Knight, 88 of Dade City Florida formerly of Mexico Maine passed away August 16, 2016 after a short illness. She was born in Brunswick Maine the daughter of Jean and Corinne Poulin on March 31, 1928. She was a lady who was very proud up till her death. Her looks and appearance were always impeccable. She was a great Mother and Grandmother. She loved her children, grand children and great-grand children and was very proud of her family. She loved the holidays especially Thanksgiving and Christmas where she loved to decorate her home. Advertisement She also enjoyed crafting and gardening. She worked at the Plaidstamp store, Mammoth Mart and The Maine National Bank where she met the love of her life Randall (Buster) Knight and they were married on April 9, 1981. They both enjoyed their time camping at Rovers camp ground in East Dixfield Maine and after retirement moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and relaxation for the rest of their life. She is survived by her three sons, Ronald Violette and wife Carol, Normand Violette and wife Glenna, David Violette and wife Jamie, and her two daughters Karen Brookhouse and husband Phill, Susan Chervenak and husband Jim, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and long time friend Charles Hnyda of Dade City Florida. Three Sisters, Dorina Morin, Jeannine Pelletier, Pauline Gamache and two brothers Roland Poulin and Leon Poulin. 9536 | Dorothy E. Durand, 84, wife of Raymond Durand, died Oct. 30, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. Dorothy was born Nov. 6, 1920. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother and a friend to many in the Bangor area. She loved music, opera, theater, gardening and travel. She loved reading books and teaching children. In the past she submitted articles and poems to the Bangor Daily News and acted in local plays. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Fred Bishop; her sisters, Ida Curiso and Florence Dahlberg. She is survived by her two brothers, Ted Bishop and Ellsworth Bishop; and one sister, Hazel Ballou. Dorothy is survived by her three children and their respective spouses, a son, Richard Bell and a spouse, Janet, of Hopedale, Mass., (the twins) Justina Saunders and spouse, Hobart, of West Warwick, R.I. and Patricia Froehlich and her spouse, Dale, from Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Michael Bell, Jay D. Nunn, Lauri Meisser, Hobie Saunders, Renee L. Potter, Karen L. Shearer, Christine L. Capes, Annette L. Locke; 10 great-grandchildren and many kind and caring nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov.3, on their 51st wedding anniversary, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark L. Fowler, officiating.
