MADAWASKA - Michael R. Violette, 48, passed away unexpectedly May 13, 2010, at the Edmundston hospital. He was born July 1, 1961, in Santa Monica, Calif., the beloved son of Harold Violette and Georgette (Roussel) Daniel. Mike was a big advocate for the town of Madawaska, serving on several different committees, but primarily serving as town selectmen July 1, 2000-June 30, 2006, and July 1, 2008-May 13, 2010. Of the eight years he was on the board, Mike served as chairman in 2005, 2008 and 2009. He was a member of Madawaska Fire Department for 23 years and was influential in getting the department their ladder truck. He was also a third degree member of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2638, Madawaska. Mike also worked at Fraser Paper for 23 years - the last three years he was a safety representative for T.O.P. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his friends at his camp in the Allagash. Mike was rarely seen without his camo or orange on. Most of all, Mike loved his family and enjoyed every minute he spent with them. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sue Violette of Madawaska; one son, Adam Violette and his girlfriend, Liz, of Westbrook; twin daughters, Lydia Violette and her boyfriend, Josh, of South Portland and Julia Violette and her boyfriend, Ricky, of Madawaska; his mother, Georgette and her husband, Bruce Daniel, of St. Jacques, New Brunswick; his father, Harold Violette and his wife, Lucille, of Madawaska; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He had an infectious smile and a genuine love for all people. He will be greatly missed by many people in the community. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Lajoie Funeral Home.
