Vernon M. Hansen, 89, a long-time resident of Quincy, passed away surrounded by his loved ones Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Bay Path Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Duxbury. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa L. (Morneau) Hansen with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Born in South Boston, he was the son of the late Axel and Edna (Morris) Hansen. A graduate of South Boston High School and earned his degree from Newbury College. He was a veteran of service with the US Airforce from 1951- 1955 during the Korean War. He began his career at Western Electric Telephone Company where he retired as a Methods Analyst. Vernon spent much of his time in his flourishing garden and producing beautiful paintings for his family and friends to cherish. He is survived by his three children: his daughter Laurie - Ann Bonn and her husband Thomas of Kingston, his son Wayne Hansen and his wife Kimberly of Plymouth, and his daughter Diane Anekstein and husband Jeremy of Florida; 6 grandchildren: Danielle and Kaitlyn Bonn, Erik and Jonathan Hansen, and David and Chloe Anekstein; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late: Russell Hansen, Olga Ollie (Hansen) McEvoy, Edna Norma (Hansen) Schmidt, Edmond Hansen, Thelma (Hansen) Manson, and Harold Hansen. A private ceremony and burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
