    • Mary Jennie Ertz, 103, of Burlington, died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Great River Medical Center, Klein Center.

      Born July 1, 1901, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of William Paul Jr. and Eugenie Mary Forest Thibedeau. On July 18, 1923, she married Francis B. Ertz in Weyburn Sask, Canada. He died January 22, 1971.

      Mrs. Ertz was a homemaker. She was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed needlework and traveling.

      Survivors include four daughters, Mildred Ertz and Marcella Ertz, both of Burlington, with whom she made her home, Lorraine Hoenig of Urbandale, and Marjorie Schmidt of Oak Lawn, Illinois; one son, Ernest J. Ertz of Papillion, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Youngdike of Bellingham, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, two brothers, one son, one grand-daughter and one great-granddaughter.

      There will be no family visitation, however, friends may call after noon today at Prugh's Chapel.

      The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ertz will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

      Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
