Alda Violette
At Foyer Notre-Dame Nursing Home of Saint-Leonard, February 1, 2016, Mrs. Alda Violette of Saint-Leonard passed away at the age of 96 years. She was the widow of Patrick Cyr by first marriage and of Melquis Violette by second marriage. Born at Saint-Andre in 1919, she was a daughter of the late Edmond and Memory (Michaud) Poitras.
Mrs. Violette was a former member of the Saint-Leonard Daughters of Isabella and Golden Age Club.
She is survived by nine children, Aline Beaulieu (late Richard) of Saint-Leonard, Jeannette Gervais (Roger) of St-Leonard-Parent, Armand "Piton" Cyr (Jeanne d'Arc) of St-Leonard-Parent, Albert Cyr (Diane) of Saint-Leonard, Alyre Cyr (Pierrette) of Saint-Andre, Lorraine Martin (Guillaume) of Drummond, Rino Cyr (Verna) of St-Leonard-Parent, Clairmont Cyr of Drummond and Gilles Cyr (late Anne-Marie) of Saint-Andre, 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, three brothers, George Poitras (late Lilianne) of Manchester, Connecticut, Gilbert Poitras (Lorraine) of Saint-Leonard and Alyre Poitras (Gisele) of St-Leonard-Parent, three sisters, Yvonne Dube (Alphee) of Perth-Andover, Evelyne Michaud (late Reno) and Jeanne Ouellette (Fidele) of Saint-Leonard, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Edouard "Wood", Adolphe, Armand, Denis, Anna St-Amand, Cecile St-Amand and Rose St-Amand.
Resting at O'Regan's Chapel, 83 St-Antoine Street, Saint-Leonard with visiting hours on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, February 4th at 4 p.m. from the Saint-Leonard Roman Catholic Church with interment in the parish cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Notre-Dame Foundation of Saint-Leonard would be appreciated by the family.
