Services were held this morning at Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland, W.Va., for Virginia Catherine Scott, 97, a resident of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., who died Jan. 1 at the Extended Care Facility of Morgan County War Memorial Hospital there.
The daughter of the late Arthur and Katie Howard Violette, Mrs. Scott was born Jan. 4, 1906, in Arlington, Va.
She retired from the federal government, where she worked as a file clerk.
She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, the Ladies of the Moose Lodge 1311 and the Ladies Auxiliary of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60, both in Berkeley Springs.
She was the widow of Addison Warren Broy, her first husband, and Clarence Alfred Scott, her second husband; the mother of the late Helen Payton, Howard Sterling Broy and Arthur "Buddy" Broy; and the sister of the late Mary Moriarty, Helen Ferris and Howard Violette.
Surviving are three daughters, Elsie Walker of Alexandria, Va., Frances Roth of Greenbelt and Shirley Smythe of Shady Side; one son, James Broy of College Park; one brother, Louis Violette of Brentwood; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs.
