  Ref: Obituary Richard "Popeye" Joined the Navy in 1944 immediately after graduating from Milton High School, and served assigned to the USS Wabash, a tanker in the Pacific. After the war he attended John Carroll University and Boston College, then taught Industrial Arts at Dedham High School, winning Teacher of the Year in 1972. He then followed his passion and became a Master Carpenter, as well as inventing many devices that he had patented.
