Fernand Violette, 91, died December 12, 2014 in Lake Worth, Florida. He was predeceased by his wife, Jackie. He is survived by a son, Tim Violette of Lake Wales, Florida and a daughter, Marlene Griffin of Hamilton, Montana. He is also survived by a brother, Roy Violette, of Boynton Beach, Florida. Fern served in the US Army during World War II. He served as General Patton's personal driver and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Fern was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge amongst other awards. In January 2012 Fern was awarded the French Legion of Honor for his combat service in France. After World War II, Fern moved to Lake Worth where he owned and operated Fern's Texaco Service Station on North Dixie then worked for the City of Lake Worth. Fern was a member of the American Legion Post 47 and the former VFW Post 3588.
