    • Roger L. Violette, 76, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on January 28, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. He was the adoring husband of Son Ok Violette and they shared 53 loving years together. During his last hours, he recounted cherished memories with his loved ones. His loss is deeply and sadly felt by all those who were close to him. The funeral service and military honors has been postponed to a later date to be determined. Roger was born in Biddeford, ME on November 26, 1944, the youngest son of 6 children to the late Romeo and Estelle (Lajoie) Violette. His family later relocated to Hartford, CT when he was 12 years old and he went on to graduate from Weaver High School in 1965. He proudly served in the U.S Eighth Army as a Specialist 5, Korea 2nd division for six years, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and assistant to the Chaplain. He met his best friend and the love of his life during his time in Korea. He returned to the United States with his wife and young family in 1971, starting a career at Connecticut General, later CIGNA that subsequently spanned over 25 years. Roger will always be remembered for his devotion to family and friends, his playful spirit and his wholehearted celebration of his Catholic faith communicant of the former St. Helena's Parish. He enjoyed many pastimes which included playing card games, tending his gardens, listening to country music, going to the gym, taking trips to the casino, collecting movies, storytelling, shopping, sending cards for every occasion and keeping everyone connected. An animal lover, tinkerer and organizer, practical joker, but above all, Roger was a hard-working family man. He relished holiday gatherings when everyone was together, always the warmest and most generous of hosts. In recent years, during summer vacations, he would return to his birthplace in Maine to share stories about his childhood and create new memories with his grandchildren. He celebrated his family and friends, doted endlessly on his beloved wife and was happiest when surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Son Ok Violette and his daughters Romaine Violette (Bloomfield, CT), Sandra Violette and her wife Ivana Butera-Violette and their son Joshua (New Milford, CT), Danielle Farr and her husband Joseph and their 2 sons William and Lucien (Portland ME), his sisters Evelyn Beaulieu (Bristol, CT) and Venette Lagasse (Madawaska, ME), brother Rone Henry Violette (West Drayton, UK) and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Bernadette Labbe and brother Wilfred Violette. The Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Homein West Hartford has care of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Roger asked that donations to be made to an Alzheimer's Research group or charity organization.
