WINSLOW - Lucille Violette Poulin, 83, formerly of Van Buren, died peacefully Sunday morning, March 16, 2008, at Inland Hospital with her two sons and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born in Van Buren on Nov. 1, 1924, the daughter of Octave and Ozithe Violette.

Her family moved to Waterville in 1942 and she began her working career at Diamond Match in Oakland and later worked at Scott Paper Company in Winslow until her retirement in 1982. During her years at Scott Paper, she took vacations to Florida, Hawaii and a very special trip to France with her siblings to trace her family roots.

She attended many Violette family reunions that were held in various places throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Canada.

In her spare time, Lucille enjoyed cooking for her many friends and family, reading, attending family gatherings, playing cards, and keeping her home in tip top shape. She was a very thoughtful person, always helping those in need.

She married Richard J. Poulin on April 30, 1950. They built their home on Bassett Road in Winslow and she lived there for 58 years.

She is survived by her two sons, Gary Poulin and his fiancée, Rhonda Reed of Fairfield, and Lee Poulin and his wife, Doreen, of Skowhegan; sister Theresa Poulin and her husband, Raymond, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three brothers, Philip Violette of Rock Hill, Conn., Conrad Violette and his wife, Marlene, of Lewiston, and Harold Violette and his wife, Harriet of Winslow; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Poulin, on April 21, 1972; three brothers, Leo, Gilbert and Roland; three sisters, Constance, Jean and Pauline; and daughter-in-law, Joyce Poulin. (Morning Sentinel 3/19/2008)
