    • Rita F. Violette, age 93, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Gray Birch Drive following a long illness. She was born in Augusta, ME on March 20, 1924 a daughter of the late Joseph and Lea (Grondin) Guimond.
      Mrs. Violette was a graduate of Cony High School and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
      She had been employed by Patenaude’s Superette for over 25 years.
      Rita had beautiful flower gardens. She was a wonderful knitter, seamstress and was very talented at croche as well. She was a hard worker. In her later years, she enjoyed watching the Red Sox.
      Mrs. Violette was pre-deceased by her brother, Gerard Guimond; her sister, Jeannette Theresa Landerkin and a son-in-law, James Loisel.
      She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Alexis Violette of Augusta; her son, Michael R. Violette of Mt. Vernon; her daughter, Patricia A. Loisel of Waterville; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
      At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 3rd at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial will be at a later date in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
