    • ORLAND - Susan "Sue" Jean (Whitcomb) Violette, 66, passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2021, after a brief illness. She was born on April 13, 1955, to Bill Whitcomb Sr. and Delores Whitcomb. She graduated from Bucksport High School in 1973.
She is survived by her sister, Mary-Ellen Whitcomb; brother, Bill Whitcomb Jr.; son, Larry Violette Jr., his wife, Amanda, and their children, Aden and Landon; daughter, Cindy Polley, her husband, Scott, and their son, Hunter; and her family and friends.
Sue loved spending time near her beloved Toddy Pond and watching the area birds. Sue learned to knit as a child from her mom and was always willing to pass her skills onto others including children on her bus route and work friends. Sue drove the bus for many years of her life from the local school bus, Island Explorer, and most recently, for Downeast Transportation. She made an impact on all of those she met, from children to the elderly.
Celebration of life will take place summer of 2022, at Toddy Pond, where her heart was always home. For those wanting to say goodbye, look for Sue in some of her favorite places: Toddy Pond, Acadia, Mount Battie, and all along the coast of Maine. Donations can be sent to Jericho Road, an organization that supports the less fortunate community of Bangor. Sue was passionate about helping this population. Cards can be sent to P.O. Box 152, East Orland, ME 04431.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Ellsworth Hospital for their compassionate care.
