- Dorothy E. Durand, 84, wife of Raymond Durand, died Oct. 30, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. Dorothy was born Nov. 6, 1920. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother and a friend to many in the Bangor area. She loved music, opera, theater, gardening and travel. She loved reading books and teaching children. In the past she submitted articles and poems to the Bangor Daily News and acted in local plays. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Fred Bishop; her sisters, Ida Curiso and Florence Dahlberg. She is survived by her two brothers, Ted Bishop and Ellsworth Bishop; and one sister, Hazel Ballou. Dorothy is survived by her three children and their respective spouses, a son, Richard Bell and a spouse, Janet, of Hopedale, Mass., (the twins) Justina Saunders and spouse, Hobart, of West Warwick, R.I. and Patricia Froehlich and her spouse, Dale, from Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Michael Bell, Jay D. Nunn, Lauri Meisser, Hobie Saunders, Renee L. Potter, Karen L. Shearer, Christine L. Capes, Annette L. Locke; 10 great-grandchildren and many kind and caring nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov.3, on their 51st wedding anniversary, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark L. Fowler, officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Church of the Open Door, Hampden, ME 04444-0177 and/or the Hammond Senior Center, 2 Hammond St., Bangor, ME 04401.
