LITTLETON and DREWS LAKE – Joseph I. Violette, 88, passed away peacefully June 27, 2013, with his wife, Margaret, by his side at a Houlton health care facility. He was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Patten, son of Lawrence and Minne (Shorette) Violette.
Joe served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy and Germany during the D-day invasion. He married Margaret Melville in 1948. He owned and operated Joe Violette & Son Construction Company for many years working right up to the age of 80.
Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret of Houlton; two sons, Glenn Violette and wife, Patricia, of Littleton, and Peter Violette and wife, Elizabeth, of Virginia; daughter-in-law, Norma Violette of Monticello; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son, David; brother, Edward; and granddaughter, Michelle.
Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of the service 1 p.m. Sunday, at Dunn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Straubel officiating. Interment will be at Littleton Cemetery.
