HOULTON - Margaret A. Violette, 85, died April 2, 2016 in Houlton with her family by her side. She was born January 22, 1930 in Houlton, the daughter of Laurel and Josephine (Burton) Melville. Margaret loved to spend summers out to her camp at Drews Lake. A lot of family reunions and friendly parties were held there and no one went wanting because of her cooking skills. She loved working in her flower gardens, of which she had several. Pets were considered family members. She was a member of Meduxnekeag Club (referred to as Dux Club) and Chat A While Club. She and her husband, Joe, were instrumental in the moving and running of the Dux Club when it was forced to move out of downtown Houlton. She is survived by 2 sons, Glenn & Patricia Violette of Littleton, Peter and Elizabeth Violette of VA; a daughter-in-law, Norma Violette of Monticello; 7 grandchildren, Laurel and Holly Violette, Chris and Jennifer Violette, Becky Violette and fiance David Cullum, Angela and Iyan Burlock, Jennifer and Chris Thomas, Stacylee Violette, Joseph Violette; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, James Melville; several nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph Violette; her oldest son, David Violette and a granddaughter, Michelle Violette. Friends may call 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, April 7th at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Straubel officiating. An interment will be held in the Littleton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the charity on one's choice.
