TILTON, NH - Gerald F. Soucy, 96, a resident of Tilton, NH, formerly of Chelmsford, MA and Hampton, NH, passed away peacefully and honorably with a final salute at the New Hampshire Veteran's Home in Tilton, NH. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Arnott) Soucy and the late Olive (Ralston) Soucy.
Born in Lawrence, MA on May 31, 1921, he was a son of the late Able and Adele (Violette)Soucy.
Gerald served his country during WWII as a medic in the Army Air Corps #861 assigned to the China Burma Theater. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he enrolled in Nursing School at Carney Hospital in Boston and began a nursing career that would span 35 years. He was a registered nurse and was employed by veteran's hospitals in Framingham, Boston and Bedford Massachusetts until his retirement in 1980. After retirement he was employed by the Willow Manor Nursing Home.
Gerald was a devote Catholic and found peace with his faith. He also was a very devoted father to his five children. He loved a good day at the beach. He also enjoyed playing bingo and scratching lottery tickets and having lunch out with a cold beer and a cigar.
He was a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV.)
Gerald is survived by his children and their spouses, Elaine and Mark Finneral of Plymouth, MA, Jeanne and David Calderan of Dunstable, Jay and Judi Soucy of Merrimac, MA, Linda and Bill Cook of Dunstable; a son-in-law, Rick Campbell of Melbourne Beach, FL; ten grandchildren, Meaghan, Stephen, Serena, Joseph, Paul, Daniel, Jacqueline, Victoria, Ethan & Evan; one great- granddaughter, Maggie. He was the father of the late Mimi Campbell and brother of the late Pauline Pare and Ruth Bourbeau.
