HOULTON - James Robert Melville, 85, died August 14th, 2016 in Houlton. He was born March 21st, 1931 in Houlton, the son of Laurel and Josephine (Burton) Melville. James grew up on the family farm in Littleton and was a veteran of the Korean War. He spent most of his working life at Milmac, Inc. Wood Mill. His passion in life was motorcycles and he owned an Indian and a Harley Davidson. He and his wife, Millie, took many motorcycle trips together when they were younger. James was also a lover of animals. In his younger years his 3-legged chihuahua, Kippy, was his constant companion. Animals often sought him out knowing that he loved them and was a gentle soul. He is survived by his daughters, Maria Dubois and her husband, Sylvio of Limestone and Jamie Higer and her husband, David of Naperville, IL; his 2 grandchildren: Brittany Davenport of Naperville, IL and Brandon Davenport of Renton, WA as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his wife Mildred "Millie" (Brown) Melville and his sister, Margaret (Melville) Violette and her husband, Joseph. Friends may call 2-4 PM, Sun, Aug. 21st at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton with a funeral service being held 1 PM, Mon, Aug. 22nd at the Littleton Baptist Church.
