    • Thomas F. Walker, age 89, of Marblehead died Thursday, August 11, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was the son of Frederick and Daisy (Hood) Walker. Tom was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and stationed in Germany. In 1951 he graduated from the University of Minnesota, majoring in chemistry. He worked for Uniroyal and Chrysler Plastics directing laboratories, supervising testing, and quality control. He was highly respected for his knowledge of color technology. Thomas was the beloved husband of Beatrice Moen Walker for over 65 years and proud father of three sons, Randall, Ned (Mary Grace), and Paul (Connie), and four granddaughters, Catherine, Jessica, Monica, and Stephanie. All survive him along with his sister Kathleen. He enjoyed family life providing wisdom, kindness, good humor, and devotion. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Port Clinton where he shared his gifts of leadership, music, and stewardship. Tom was the primary person in the establishment of a Peace Rose garden there tending it faithfully for many years. In his early forties he earned a private pilot's license. Thomas served one term on the Port Clinton School Board and also served as President of the Port Clinton High School Music Boosters. As a youth he was very active in sports. He followed the Minnesota Golden Gophers all his life. In retirement Tom enjoyed traveling, researching family history, reading, playing golf and bridge, and growing bonsai trees. Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters Olive, Edna, and Peggy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 1:30pm until a Memorial service at 2pm at Peace Lutheran Church, 900 S. Jefferson Street, Port Clinton. The family requests donations in his memory be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 900 S. Jefferson, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452 or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
