It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernie Violette who has gone to heaven. We know that she is finally in a state of pure joy and peace. Bernie left this world on November 22, 2022 knowing how much she was loved. Her family gathered frequently by her side and will always remember her for her kindness, humbleness, patience, intelligence and commitment to her family.
Bernie was born on December 24, 1940 in Paquetville, New-Brunswick to her parents Thomas Boudreau et Elizabeth Boudreau (née Haché) and later was the step-daughter to Edwidge Landry. She was one of six children and the oldest of the girls; Jack (Jacques) Boudreau (Flo), Eveline Levasseur (Ray), Emmy (Imelda) Manders (Harry), Albert Boudreau (Patricia) both predeceased, and Ernest Boudreau, predeceased. She also has three step-siblings; Rhéal Boudreau (Yvette), Eveline Robichaud (Jean-Guy) predeceased and Emile Boudreau predeceased (Linda).
Bernie met the love of her life Gilles in Sarnia Ontario and they married in 1959. They have two beautiful children, Michelle (Dan Landry) and Robert (Wendy Weddell). She will be missed by her loving grand-children: Stéphanie Violette-Frawley (Dave), Sachelle Violette-Alkhoury (Isaac), Shane Violette, Chantèle Mayer (Matt Thomas), Roch Mayer and Natasha Mayer.
Kind, generous and loyal, Bernie loved to care for others. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Quiet but strong, Bernie was a wise woman and was always looking out for the best interest of those she loved. She was intelligent, dedicated and studious. Bernie placed significant importance on education, returning to school in her 40s to obtain her university degree, alongside her daughter, Michelle. Bernie graduated cum laude in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Laurentian University. Her passion for education extended beyond her own studies to her role as Secretary at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School where she was adored by the teachers, staff and students alike.
As a woman of faith, she had a strong relationship with God and was a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League of St. Patrick’s Parish. Bernie’s passing has left a void in the lives of so many. To her daughter, Michelle, who was her best friend and confidante, to her son, Rob, who she was endearingly referred to as his bird - his mama bird, and to each and every one of us who have been blessed to know her and to love her.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday November 30, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Parish, 39 Walford Rd, Sudbury ON.
