    • C. Edward "Ed" Keiser

Gorham, ME, On Wednesday August 9, 2017 Ed continued his journey onto our Lord. He passed away quietly, peacefully, at home, in his sleep.

He was the son of Kenneth and Helen (Senft) Keiser. He was born on November 22, 1942 in York County, PA.

Ed grew up in the small town of Jacobus, attended school there. He was in the graduating class of 1960 at Dallastown Area High School. Ed was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Forrestal during his enlistment. He worked in several York County businesses after his discharge, moving to ME in the mid 1970's. He worked at Holmes Distributors for several years before retiring from the Portland Press Herald – Evening Express – Maine Sunday Telegram in 2001. Semi-retirement brought him to work for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.

He served both at St. Margaret's in Old Orchard Beach, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in North Windham until his recent illness. Ed battled pancreatic cancer for more than four years.
He was a member and officer of the Portland Newspaper Guild, member and past President of the Windham/Gorham Rod & Gun Club, member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Gorham member and maintainer, in the Bigelow District, for the Maine Appalachian Club. He volunteered for over twenty years at the Wayside Evening Soup Kitchen, was a regular whole blood donor at the American Red Cross, having donated over a hundred pints, and also was a Minister of the Holy Eucharist at several area parishes.

He is survived by the love of his life, Marcia Hill of Gorham. Also, two sons, David, his wife, Wendy of York, and Jeffrey, of Richmond, VA. Leaving two grandsons, Seth of Minn, MN and Skylar of York; three step-grandchildren; Jeremy of NC, Zackeree and Kyrsten, both of York. Also,

Ed is survived by his brother Joe, his wife, Deb, both of York. Two very special cousins, Gerry, and her husband, Jon Smeigh of Elizabethtown, and Bill Graybill of Reading. Ed was welcomed into the Hill family, as one of their own, when Ed and Marcia were married on Thanksgiving Day 1991. He will be fondly remembered by mother-in-law, Dorothy Hill, of Cumberland Ctr., his many brothers and sisters-in-law, and all nieces and nephews, especially Evelyn and Emilia Viernes of Gorham, ME, who spent most Thursday evenings with Uncle Ed and Aunt Marcia.

During his illness, family members journeyed to Gorham to assist in his care-giving and providing support to Marcia. Their kindness to her, her dedication to him, were an inspiration to him during that time.

Marcia was diligent in maintaining, and a wonderful writer on, the CaringBridge web site. Ed was very appreciative of all the visits, and guestbook entries, by family and friends to the site. It provided a very important link to all those wanting to follow Ed's journey without the thought of being an intrusion into that journey.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, August 18, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Waites Landing Rd., Falmouth. To express online condolences and to participate in Ed's online tribute, please visit www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com
