    Philip L. Violette, 85, of 99 Rosedale Street, Lewiston, passed away on Friday, July 30, at his home.

    Born in Presque Isle, April 21, 1925, he was the son of Frank and Albion (Letallian) Violette. He married Murial Thibault Violette April 12, 1947. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II and saw battle in Europe. He worked as a butcher for the A & P Grocers for 35 years and also worked on the construction and upkeep of the Seabrook Nuclear Plant. He was a lifetime parishioner of Holy Cross Church and a longtime member of the Prospect Hill Golf Course, where he spent many happy hours playing the game he loved. He was a proud member of Post 22 of the American Legion.

    He was a loving and caring man who was always there to help others with a lending hand.

    He is survived by his two sons, Tobie Violette and wife, Carla, of Auburn and Daniel Violette of Lewiston; one brother, Ben Violette; and two sisters, Christine Hopkins and Pauline Bussier; four grandchildren, Michael, Pearl, Jennifer and Justin; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Megan and Griffin; and many nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years; two brothers, Raymond and Angelo; two sisters, Loula Bedette and Muriel Turgeon; and a grandson, Jerred Violette.

    He will be missed by many for his kind heart and calm presence.

    Benny Joseph Violette, 90, of 52 Rideout Avenue, Lewiston, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Presque Isle on October 20, 1926, he was the son of Francois and Albina (L'Italien) Violette.Educated in Presque Isle and Lewiston schools, he was a veteran of World War II. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and was an electrician's mate on the aircraft carrier USS Boxer, of which he was a proud plank owner. Then Benny was assigned to a troop transport ship as an Electrician's mate where he became the movie projectionist. He was honorably discharged in 1946.On April 10, 1948, he married the love of his life, Aline J. Bell.Benny worked as a machinist at the Bates Mill, the Hill Mill, the Continental Mill and at Bell Farms for many years, retiring early for health reasons in the mid-1970's.He was a member of the Lewiston Social Club, the Lewiston Elks Lodge No. 371, the American Legion, and Le Montagnard Club.He greatly enjoyed wood working, gardening and "bargain shopping" at Mardens.     VAN BUREN – Gabriel V. Violette, 76, died May 17, 2004, at a Fort Kent hospital. He was born June 8, 1927, in Van Buren, the son of Joseph S. and Laura (Laferriere) Violette. He was educated in local schools and was a 1945 graduate of Van Buren Boys High School. Gabe also studied electronics at a technical school in Massachusetts. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren and the VFW, Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 of Caribou. He was employed as an appliance salesman for Nelson and Small for several years. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Corriveau) Violette of Van Buren; one son, Michael Violette and his wife, Sharon, of Winslow; one daughter, Leah Ouellette and her husband, Donald, of Vernon, Vt.; two brothers, Russell Violette of Sun City, Calif., and Roland Violette of Van Buren; four grandchildren, Naomi Lagasse, Melissa Ouellette, Jacob and Lauren Violette; three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah and Logan. Relatives and friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren.     It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russell R. Violette on April 8, 2023. Born in Van Buren, Maine to Laura and Joseph Violette on August 9, 1933. Russell moved to California in his late teens to work at Rohr Aircraft. He was drafted into the Air Force in 1953 during the Korea War serving our country for 6 years. Russ was the owner of Midland Pipe and Supply in Colton, California until his retirement. He loved to travel with Rita to her native country of Germany, also visiting France, where his grandparents were born. He is survived by his loving wife Rita (Herz); his beloved daughters, Monique and Sonya; daughter-in-law Erin; her children Sophie and Lexi. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Brea, Joshua, Login, and great granddaughter one year old Astara. Russ will be deeply missed by family and friends. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Sun City. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be announced. Interment will be at the Riverside National Cemetery.

    LEWISTON – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Nancy Violette who passed away after a brief period of declining health at Central Maine Medical Center on July 4, 2021. Nancy had been a resident at Clover Healthcare in Auburn for the last year.

    Nancy was born to Muriel and Lionel Violette on Sept. 6, 1950. Nancy had been a member of St. Patrick’s Parrish and was educated in Lewiston Maine. For a period of time, she was employed by Pathway’s Sheltered Workshop for adults with disabilities. Nancy had a gift for giving and receiving love. She was an exceptionally good hugger. To know her was to love her.

    Nancy loved feeding the birds from her window bird-feeder and birdwatching. She especially loved cardinals. She was an avid lover of all animals and all things feline. Nancy enjoyed watching 1960s western movies and was a huge fan on Elvis. She enjoyed trips down to Foxwood’s Casino and playing the slot machines.

    She was predeceased by her father, Lionel Violette; brother, David Violette, and brother-in-law, Stephen Couture.

    She is survived by her mother, Muriel Violette; sisters, Ann and Susan Violette; niece, Sarah Couture and dog niece, Jezebel. A huge void will be left in the lives of those who loved her.

    Visitation will be held at The Fortin Group 70 Horton St. Lewiston on Saturday July 17, 2021, between 8:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church at 11 a.m.

    Arrangements are under the care and direction of The Fortin Group 70 Horton st. Lewiston.

He was born in Lewiston, Maine on June 4, 1949, son of Muriel (Fortin) Violette and Lionel Violette. He was predeceased by his father in 1986. David was educated at St. Patrick’s School where he served as an altar boy; and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1967. He continued his education at St. Francis College (University of New England) in Biddeford, Maine and Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire. He was a life-long student of nature and the environment and had a passion for and encyclopedic knowledge of the natural world. David was an expert woodsman and fly fisherman whose favorite fishing spots included the Kennebago, Narraguagus, and Nezinscot Rivers and Aziscohos Lake. He tied his own flies and shared many of these with his friends. His flies have been described by those who know and appreciate the art of fly tying as “soulful and beautifully executed”.

    David is survived by his mother Muriel Violette of Kennebunkport; sisters Susan Violette and Nancy Violette of Kennebunkport and Ann Violette of Lewiston; aunt Lorraine (Fortin) Johnsen of Lewiston; brother-in-law Stephen Couture of Kennebunkport; niece Sarah Couture of Kennebunkport; and daughter Heather Violette.

    Hampden - Lea (Violette) Ouellette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world unexpectedly on January 4, 2024, at the age of 73. Even though a failing heart took her from this world, her big heart leaves a beacon of light for all.
    Lea was born on April 9, 1950, in Van Buren, ME, to Gabriel and Gerry Violette. She now joins her brother, Micheal, who passed away this fall. Lea resided in Hampden, ME, with her loving husband Donald, who was her partner, soulmate, and best friend of 53 years. She was the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Naomi Lagasse, and Melissa and her husband, Daniel Boyd. Her selflessness, perseverance, and love remains as the foundation of her family and reflects through her grandchildren, Samantha and husband, Erick, Logan, Sarah, Ryan, and Izabella. Lea also shared much love for all of her in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
    The simplest pleasures in life brought her pure joy. Lea loved spending time with her family and friends whether it was going on family vacations, taking girl trips, or playing cards. She loved to make scrapbooks that captured beautiful memories throughout the years. She also loved making puzzles, crafting, and spending lots of money at Micheal's and Hobby Lobby! She always looked forward to daily FaceTime calls from her grandchildren, they held such a special place in her heart. In the evenings you would find Lea relaxing in her recliner with a chilled Pepsi, Lays potato chips, her dog Gabe in her lap, and her husband Donald alongside her.
    Lea was one of the strongest, most humble, and caring humans in this world. She brought much light and laughter through her silly and sassy jokes. Leah could put a smile on anyone's face. She truly touched the lives of everyone around her. She showed us what love, loyalty, and the true meaning of family is. Lea will be deeply missed and remains forever in our hearts.
    A celebration of life will be held for Lea in the early summer of 2024.

    Hamlin - Michael "Mike" Violette, 65, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, October 14, 2023, surrounded by his family at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle, ME. He was born on February 7, 1958, in Van Buren, ME. Mike was the son of the late Gabriel and Gerry (Corriveau) Violette.
    Mike leaves behind his children, Jacob and his wife, Lindsay Violette, and Lauren Violette of Winslow, ME; his sister, Lea and husband, Donald Ouellette, of Hampden, ME; his fiancée, Denise Parent Martin of Hamlin, ME; her children, Amber Martin of Bradenton, FL, and Anthony and his wife, Tosha Martin, of Van Buren, ME; and 4 grandchildren, Blake, Zachary, Isaac, and Alex.
    One thing Mike was known for was his love of music. As a D.J. for several years, Mike was always ready to entertain and light up a room. Mike also enjoyed quality time with his dog, Bailey, and watching his favorite sports teams on television, especially with some good chicken wings! Mike spent his career serving people in Kennebec County. From working as a bench jeweler at Day's Jewelers to helping young adults with developmental disabilities, Mike enjoyed creating personal connections. Although Mike lived in Winslow, ME, for many years, he later accomplished his dream of moving back to "the County." While working at the DMV in Caribou, Mike always looked forward to seeing people from Van Buren, as it made his day when they recognized him and had lots of stories and laughs to share.
    Later in life, Mike met his fiancée, Denise, and her family. He enjoyed decorating cookies at Christmas, watching the grandkids play for the hometown, four-wheeling through the farmland, and playing nightly games of Skip-Bo with Denise.
    A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Hamlin, ME, on Saturday, November 4, at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the same location.
