    Donald Charles Shorette 70 of 184 Mountain View Avenue Forestville died January 22 at a Bristol Conn hospital after a short Illness He was born at Patten Maine April 19 1891 son of John and Philemon (Deschane) Shorette and resided in 'Millinocket Maine before going to Bristol Conn in 1942. Prior to his retirement three years ago he was employed at the New Departure Division of Gereral Motors Corp for 15 years. He was a member of St Matthews Church He is survived by two sons Donald L and Leland G Shorette both of Bristol five daughers Mrs. Adelard Fontaine of Bristol, Mrs. John Saprano, New Britain, Mrs. Ronald Campbell, and Mrs. Gilbert Campbell both of Patten Maine, and Mrs. Clyde Chamberlain of Skowhegan seven sisters. Mrs Elizabeth Letal-lion Mrs Agnes Violette, Mrs Julie Michaud, Mrs Victor Michaud, and Mrs Charles O’Neil all of Patten. Mrs Mildred Gag-nines of Rockland, and Mrs Lena Foster of Millinocket, 37 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews Funeral services were held Friday at 8 am at the Dunn Funeral Home and at St Matthew’s Church Burial will be in St Joseph’s Cemetery in Bristol.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Patten, where a Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday with Fr. Eddy Morin, celebrant.     Geraldine "Gerry" Theresa (Shorette) Soprano, 94, of Cromwell, passed away on April 4, 2022 at Pilgrim Manor in Cromwell. Born in Millinocket, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Donald, Sr. and Helen (Markie) Shorette. Gerry lived in Bristol and graduated Bristol High School in 1945. She worked at the Ingram watch company. She married John Soprano and brought up her family in New Britain. Gerry was a member of the St John The Evangelist Church in New Britain for many years. She later moved to Cromwell and was a member of Saint John Church and volunteered at the Cromwell Senior Center. Gerry will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and welcoming spirit and will be missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to the all the staff at Pilgram Manor for their exceptional care, love and support. Gerry is survived by her son, John Soprano, Jr. and his wife Claudia of Cromwell and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Gerry was predeceased by her daughter, Jodi Collin, two brothers, Leland Shorette and Donald Shorette, and four sisters, Mabel Campbell, Anita Fontaine, Winnie Campbell and Celia Chamberland. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29th at 10:00 am at Saint John Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry's memory may be made to Saint John Church, 5 Saint John Court, Cromwell, CT 06416. Cromwell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

    DOVER-FOXCROFT and BREWER – Mattie V. Gagnon, 80, wife of the late George V. Gagnon, died June 15, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor. She was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Patten, the daughter of Lawrence J. and Melonie (Charette) Violette. She graduated from Patten Academy. During World War II she graduated from Eastern Maine General Hospital as a Cadet Nurse. She had worked as a nurse in several capacities, including private duty, Veterans Hospitals in New York and Massachusetts, and then at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft, and as a school nurse for SAD No. 68. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Bernadettes, Ultreya, the Junior Cosmopolitan Club, Piscataquis Extension, VFW Auxiliary, The Silver Threads Quilters, and Delta Kappa Omicron. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda and her husband, Francis “Pug” Avery, of Milford, Anne and her husband, David Taft, of Harpswell, Laurie and her husband, David Lachance, of Manchester; a brother, Joseph and his wife, Margaret Violette, of Houlton; four grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Avery, Michael and Andrew Lachance. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Violette. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.     LITTLETON and DREWS LAKE – Joseph I. Violette, 88, passed away peacefully June 27, 2013, with his wife, Margaret, by his side at a Houlton health care facility. He was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Patten, son of Lawrence and Minne (Shorette) Violette.
    Joe served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy and Germany during the D-day invasion. He married Margaret Melville in 1948. He owned and operated Joe Violette & Son Construction Company for many years working right up to the age of 80.
    Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret of Houlton; two sons, Glenn Violette and wife, Patricia, of Littleton, and Peter Violette and wife, Elizabeth, of Virginia; daughter-in-law, Norma Violette of Monticello; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son, David; brother, Edward; and granddaughter, Michelle.
    Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of the service 1 p.m. Sunday, at Dunn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Straubel officiating. Interment will be at Littleton Cemetery. Known to his three loving grandchildren as “Papa,” Joshua and his fiance, Paula, and special little Lillianna, all of Vermont, and Taren and Brandi of Benedicta; one sister, Ann and her husband, Wallace Townsend, of Island Falls; two brothers, F. Raymond and his wife, Theresa Violette, of Massachusetts and Alton Violette of Patten; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and one brother, John.     PATTEN, SOUTHWEST HARBOR AND BREWER - Rufus Leroy Campbell, 76, passed away Monday morning, June 1, 2015, at the Brewer Center for Health & Rehabilitation after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 17, 1938, in Patten, the son of Gilbert and Mabel (Shorette) Campbell.
    He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years as a Technical Sergeant and Food Service Supervisor. He then worked for SERVPRO® as a cleaning and restoration professional, and Shaw's® Supermarket as a baker. His passions in life were cooking, especially at large family events, woodworking - building furniture, bird houses and more, and spending time with his grandchildren.
    He is survived by three brothers, Bruce and Donis of Patten and Danny of Florida; four stepchildren, Lisa Bono of Florida and Jon Bono, Jennifer Cooper and Jeremy Bono, all of New Hampshire; and five beloved stepgrandchildren, Ryan Bono of Florida, and Quinlan Gill, Mason Cooper, Libby and Will Bono, all of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Gary; and his beloved wife, Geraldine Marie Campbell.
    A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine. Donations in his memory may be made to Maine Veterans' Homes, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
