    HOULTON - Margaret A. Violette, 85, died April 2, 2016 in Houlton with her family by her side. She was born January 22, 1930 in Houlton, the daughter of Laurel and Josephine (Burton) Melville. Margaret loved to spend summers out to her camp at Drews Lake. A lot of family reunions and friendly parties were held there and no one went wanting because of her cooking skills. She loved working in her flower gardens, of which she had several. Pets were considered family members. She was a member of Meduxnekeag Club (referred to as Dux Club) and Chat A While Club. She and her husband, Joe, were instrumental in the moving and running of the Dux Club when it was forced to move out of downtown Houlton. She is survived by 2 sons, Glenn & Patricia Violette of Littleton, Peter and Elizabeth Violette of VA; a daughter-in-law, Norma Violette of Monticello; 7 grandchildren, Laurel and Holly Violette, Chris and Jennifer Violette, Becky Violette and fiance David Cullum, Angela and Iyan Burlock, Jennifer and Chris Thomas, Stacylee Violette, Joseph Violette; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, James Melville; several nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph Violette; her oldest son, David Violette and a granddaughter, Michelle Violette. Friends may call 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, April 7th at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Straubel officiating. An interment will be held in the Littleton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the charity on one's choice.     HOULTON - James Robert Melville, 85, died August 14th, 2016 in Houlton. He was born March 21st, 1931 in Houlton, the son of Laurel and Josephine (Burton) Melville. James grew up on the family farm in Littleton and was a veteran of the Korean War. He spent most of his working life at Milmac, Inc. Wood Mill. His passion in life was motorcycles and he owned an Indian and a Harley Davidson. He and his wife, Millie, took many motorcycle trips together when they were younger. James was also a lover of animals. In his younger years his 3-legged chihuahua, Kippy, was his constant companion. Animals often sought him out knowing that he loved them and was a gentle soul. He is survived by his daughters, Maria Dubois and her husband, Sylvio of Limestone and Jamie Higer and her husband, David of Naperville, IL; his 2 grandchildren: Brittany Davenport of Naperville, IL and Brandon Davenport of Renton, WA as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his wife Mildred "Millie" (Brown) Melville and his sister, Margaret (Melville) Violette and her husband, Joseph. Friends may call 2-4 PM, Sun, Aug. 21st at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton with a funeral service being held 1 PM, Mon, Aug. 22nd at the Littleton Baptist Church.

    MONTICELLO - David Wayne Violette, 58, died Sept. 22, 2008, in Littleton. He was born Dec. 14, 1949, in Houlton, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Melville) Violette. David graduated from Houlton High School in 1969 and Eastern Maine Tech in 1971. He was in the Army National Guard for 32 years and was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church, Monticello, where he served on the board of trustees and was currently serving as president of the church cooperation. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, the royal ranger program at church, spending time with his grandchildren, his dachshunds, and he always had a project in progress for his family and church. He was employed as superintendent of building at Aroostook County Courthouse, Houlton In addition to his parents of New Limerick he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Norma (Foster) Violette of Monticello; three children, Laurel and his wife, Holly Violette, of Houlton, Chris and his wife, Jennifer Violette, of Littleton, and Rebekah and her husband, Brad Lambert, of Houlton; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Alannah, Grace, Kora, CJ, Emily and Summer; two brothers, Peter Violette, his wife, Liz, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Glenn and his wife, Trish Violette, of Littleton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle Emily Violette. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Monticello, with the Rev. Darrell Williams officiating.
