    Edgar was a bus driver for the SMT Company. He first drove city busses in Fredericton, NB then drove the St. John to Edmundston route from St. John.
    After WWII broke out, he moved his family to Montreal and test drove Sherman Mk IV tanks. Then worked at Laurentide Heavy Equipment Co. selling bulldozers, tractors, steamshovels and other heavy equipment.

    In 1943 he received a call from K.C. Irving the owner of the SMT Bus Co. to start up new routes out of Moncton, NB. He started with two drivers and in a very short time he had hired 52 drivers. He was then asked by Mr. Irving to manage the Irving Oil distribution facility at Moncton. After doing that he was asked to manage and supervise the SMT Bus Co. in the northern half of the province of New Brunswick. That precipitated a move to St. Leonard, NB.

    He was then offered a job by his brother-in-law, Bert Berube who was a senior V.P. of the CNR for Eastern Canada, to manage all CNR motor vehicles in the Maritime provinces. That would have required a move back to Moncton and his wife was reluctent to move.

    He spent the remainder of his working career at the Frazer paper mill in Madawaska, Maine, but living in Edmundston, NB.

    CYR, Leo "Gene" Leo "Gene" Cyr passed away on Wednesday, (January 25, 2006) at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, FL with his wife and daughter at his side. Gene was born on August 5, 1928 in Westbrook, ME to the late Mary Violette Cyr and Leo L. Cyr. Gene spent his time growing up in Van Buren with his best friend Claude Violette. As the oldest boy in a large family, Gene started working at a young age in order to help support his mother, brother, and sisters. He excelled in positions as diverse as meat butcher to mechanic. For four years Gene served in Europe as a mechanic in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Upon returning to the states, Gene started working for Pratt & Whitney in Southington and retired after more than 40 years. After retiring from his position as an inspector, he visited friends on the Emerald Coast and fell in love with the area. He has been a resident of Fort Walton Beach for over 11 years and a part-time resident in Southington where he spent his summers. Gene was predeceased by his grandson, Derek Cyr and sisters, Marlene Gordon and Ann Hudenburg. Gene is survived by his wife and best friend, Carol King Cyr; his children. Joanne Cyr of Trumbull, Mark Cyr of Fairfax, VT, and Stephanie Cyr of Niceville, FL; the mother of his children, Doris Cyr of Plantsville; grandchildren, Victoria, Todd, Richard, Brad and Nicole and two great grandchildren; brother, Randy Cyr; sisters, Jeannine Trufant and Carlita Brown in Maine; sister, Glenda Ketola in Melbourne, FL, and brother-in-law, Don Hudenburg in Virginia, Carol's children, Wayne Tirkot, Carolyn Doski, Ward King of Connecticut, and Jim King of Palm Bay, FL, and many nieces and nephews. Gene also left behind many great friends and neighbors. Gene was known for his quick wit and generous spirit. He was known by his family and neighbors as one to always share his home grown vegetables and home made soup along with vinegar based home remedies. Gene was an active friend of Bill W's for almost 30 years where he was known as the "Marble Man." Through his fellowship in the program he has touched many lives, inspired many, and handed out thousands of marbles. He will be deeply missed by all knew and loved him. A time of visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Monday, January 30, at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Service at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to: The Alano Club, 52 Beal Parkway NW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548. Resident in Edmundston, husband of the late Lavona Bourgois. He is survived by one son: Wayne (Stéphanie) of St-Quentin; three daughters: Élaine Corriveau of St-Jacques; Cindy Émond (Charles) of Kanata, ON; Jacqueline Violette from Edmundston. The funeral will take place on Monday March 11, 2013 at 11 am at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Edmundston with interment in the parish cemetery. The mortal remains of Mr. Violette will be exhibited on Sunday March 10 from 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 9 to 11 am at Les Résidences Funéraires Brunswick Ltée in Edmundston.     Obituary: Washburn - Constance M. Nevers, 73, wife of the late Herman F. Nevers, died March 19, 2001, at a Caribou healthcare facility. She was born Oct. 18, 1927,
    in St. Leonard, N.B., Canada, the daughter of John and Adele (Lavoie) Violette. She was a den mother and
    very active with her husband in the Boy Scouts. During her illness Connie's inner strength, faith and uplifting
    spirit saw her through the hard times. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Doughty of Washburn; twin
    granddaughters, Erin and Erica Doughty; four brothers, Martin Violette of Plaster Rock, N.B., Gilbert Violette
    of Edmundston, N.B., Gerald Violette of Greenwood, Nova Scotia, Eugene Violette of California; two sisters,
    Armand "Vi" Violette of Exeter, N.H., Bernadette Page of Sioux St. Marie, Ontario. She will be remembered
    by special friends, Alphonse and Corinne Levesque and their children, all of Caribou. In addition to her
    husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Enoil Violette. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday
    at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with the Rev. Leopold Nicknair officiating.
    Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. Spring interment will be in Crouseville Cemetery.

    Martin Violette of Oxbow, NB, passed away peacefully at the Tobique Valley Manor on the morning of July 21, 2017.

    Martin was born in St-Leonard, NB, on January 31, 1936. He was the son of the late Armand and Adelle (Lavoie) Violette. Martin leaves behind his daughter, Janice Violette of Mississauga, ON; his sons, Wayne Violette of Oxbow, NB, and Dean Violette of Hamilton, ON; his grandson, Ethan Billings.

    Martin was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Laura Violette (Burgoyne); sisters Constance, Bernadette, and Vi; brothers, Gerald, Gilbert, Enol "Whitey", and Eugene.

    A graveside service was held at Burntland Brook Cemetery on Saturday, August 5th, 2017 at 11 am. Father Gilbert Doddatto officiated.

    Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock.

    At Domaine des Bâtisseurs, on May 28, 2016, at the age of 75 years and 3 months, passed away Mr. Gilbert ``Gib`` Violette, residing in Edmundston, husband of Mrs. Alexina ``Alix`` Bélanger, son of the late Mr. Thomas Violette and the late Mrs. Adèle Lavoie.

    Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Michelle and Tina, the children of his wife: Gisèle Weatherhead (late Jack) of Fredericton, Roméo Martin (Ghislaine) of Edmundston, Lise Martin of Edmundston, Mariette Gendreau (Wil ) from Edmundston, Jacques Martin (Maryse Grondin) from Edmundston, Yves Martin (Aline Pelletier) from Edmundston, Sylvie Lebel (André) from St-Basile, her sister Bernadette (Félix) from Sault-Sainte-Marie ON, her brothers : Martin from Plaster Rock NB, Eugène from Washington DC, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, as well as several nephews and nieces. He now rests with his parents and siblings.

    His funeral will take place on Wednesday, June 1 , 2016 at 4 p.m. in the Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs church with interment in the Rivière-Verte cemetery.

    The family of Mr. Gilbert ``Gib`` Violette will welcome friends from 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bellavance Funeral Home at 153 Canada Road in Edmundston. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. 45.

    Mr. Violette was a member of CN Pensioners Council #3.
