ELIZABETH THIBODEAU VAN BUREN Elizabeth Thibodeau 92 died March 22 1991 at a Van Buren nursing home. She was born in Siegas New Brunswick Canada April 4 1898 the daughter of Paul and Justine (Thibodeau) Cyr. She is survived by three daughters Mrs Viola St Louis of Concord NH, Mrs Wallace (Thelma) Porter of Van Buren, and Mrs Charles (Adrienne) Kostka of Peekskill NY, one brother Noe Cyr of St Leonard New Brunswick, 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Mrs Thibodeau was predeceased by her husband Samuel Thibodeau who died in 1957, and by a daughter Lorraine Martin in 1990. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home 12 High St Van Buren 9 am until time of services on Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Monday at St Bruno Catholic Church Van Buren with the Rev Peter D'Ambrosia SM parochial vicar celebrant. Boynton Beach. Roy R. Violette, 99, passed away at Trustbridge Hospice, Boca Raton on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Roy was born in Van Buren, Maine on December 4, 1921 to Joseph F. and Marie Sophie Cyr Violette.
At the age of 17 Roy left the farm where he grew up in northern Maine for a job in Hartford, Connecticut. He later moved to Lake Worth, Florida where he worked at the Palm Beach home of Alfred P. Sloan, chairman of General Motors Corporation. He later became Mr. Sloan’s personal chauffeur in Palm Beach and New York from 1947 to 1955. After Mr. Sloan’s retirement, Roy returned to Hartford and married Jean Chesney in 1955. He then went to work for aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt and Whitney in Hartford until transferring to their plant in West Palm Beach where he worked as a machinist until he retired.
Roy always had a positive, joyful attitude, met everyone with a warm smile and was loved by all. He was hard working and always willing to help friends and neighbors. Roy had a green thumb and kept his home and yard in pristine condition.

Fernand Violette, 91, died December 12, 2014 in Lake Worth, Florida. He was predeceased by his wife, Jackie. He is survived by a son, Tim Violette of Lake Wales, Florida and a daughter, Marlene Griffin of Hamilton, Montana. He is also survived by a brother, Roy Violette, of Boynton Beach, Florida. Fern served in the US Army during World War II. He served as General Patton's personal driver and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Fern was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge amongst other awards. In January 2012 Fern was awarded the French Legion of Honor for his combat service in France. After World War II, Fern moved to Lake Worth where he owned and operated Fern's Texaco Service Station on North Dixie then worked for the City of Lake Worth. At the Grand Falls General Hospital, Monday, October 13, 2003, Mrs. Gemma Bell Violette of Saint-Leonard passed away peacefully and prayerfully surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John P. Bell by first marriage and of the late Lucien Violette by second marriage. Born at Siegas, New Brunswick in 1917, she was a daughter of the late Xavier and Rose-Anna (Cyr) Lapointe.
Mrs. Violette was a member of the Saint-Leonard Daughters of Isabella and was a former president of W.B.A. Insurance (Women's Benefit Association). A prayerful person well known for her abilities as a homemaker, having raised four daughters, she was also known by the local people for her nine years of service at the former Acadia Restaurant and later as a nurses' aid at the Foyer Notre-Dame Nursing Home for ten years. Her first husband passed away in December 1969, after which she was alone for many years until she married Lucien Violette in 1983. She moved to Edmundston where she resided for 15 years. It was during this time she built new friendships, having wintered in Florida for eight years. During this time, she attended Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs parish church. Four years ago, the couple returned to her former Saint-Leonard home where she lived until her death. Her second husband passed away in April 2002.
She was predeceased by her second daughter, Barbara Ann at the age of 20 months, as well as two brothers, Albeo and Fernand Lapointe and three sisters, Venolia Levesque, Geraldine Lapointe and Fabiola Lapointe. She is survived by three daughters, Mona (Richard) Martinik of Tariffville, Connecticut, Carol (Maurice) Michaud of Saint-Leonard and Phyllis (Jim) Doucette of Van Buren, Maine, seven grandchildren, Maurice, Sandra, Terry Lee, Andrea, Richard Anthony, Philip and Thomas, seven great grandchildren, Jessica, Brandon, Amanda, Dana Marie, Norris, Preston et Forrest, one brother, Georges Lapointe of Saint-Leonard, three sisters, Georgette (Louis) Castonguay of Bristol, Connecticut, Bernadette Leclerc of Grand Falls and Laurenna (Herbert) Martin of Sarnia, Ontario, as well as nieces and nephews. She also leaves the family of her second husband, who were an important part of her life. They loved and respected her as did she in return.
Resting at O'Regan's Chapel, 83 Saint-Antoine Street, Saint-Leonard with visiting hours Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 16th at 4 p.m. from the Saint-Leonard Roman Catholic Church, with interment to follow in the Saint-Leonard cemetery. LEVESQUE. Venolia G. (Lapointe) Levesque, 70, of 162 River Southington, widow of Simon J. Levesque, died Wednesday (March 29, 1995) at Bradley Memorial Hospital, Southington. Mrs.
Levesque was born April 2, 1924, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada, and was a daughter of the late Xavier and Anna (Cyr) Lapointe. She resided In Hartford before moving to Southington eight years ago. She was a member of St. Dominic Church, Southington.
Mrs. Levesque Is survived by four sons, Alfred Levesque of Newington, Paul-Emlle Levesque of Kensington. Reno Levesque of Plalnville, andPierre Levesque of Southington; four daughters, Rachel Dionne, Jacqueline Caston-guay, Suzanne Beaulieu, all of Bristol, and Denyse Levesque of Southington; two brothers and three sisters of Canada; and a sister. Georges LaPointe 1932-2012
At the Grand Falls General Hospital, October 25, 2012, Mr. Georges X. LaPointe of Saint-Leonard passed away at the age of 79 years. Born in 1933, he was a son of the late Xavier and Rose-Anna (Cyr) LaPointe.
He is survived by his sister, Bernadette Leclerc of Grand Falls, his twin sister, Georgette Castonguay of Bristol, CT, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Geraldine, Lorraine, Venolia, Gemma, Albeo and Fernand.
