    Notes:

    DOB: Poitras

Leopold Gilbert Violette, 86, was called home to the embrace of God's arms, dying unexpectedly at his home on January 4th. He was born on September 5, 1927 in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada, to Onesime and Agnes Violette; he was one of eleven children. After moving to New Yorkin order to find work to support his widowed mother, in 1946, he enlisted in the Army and served in Europe; he told many interesting stories of that time. After the war, he settled in Hartford, CT, where he met the love of his life, Blanche. They raised 2 children. His many jobs included being an iceman, and working at both Royal and Underwood Typewriter, and as a machinist from which he retired. He moved the family to Southington, CT in 1973, where he stayed until his retirement. During his life he was active in the Roman Catholic Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies were wood-working, bowling and golfing, which he did quite often, and proudly beat those younger than him. Leo and Blanche loved to travel often in Europe and the States. He moved to Surprise, AZ in 2000, so that his daughter Patty could help care for his wife. Until her death in 2008, Leo devoted himself completely to the loving care of his wife in their home, his life's greatest achievement. Preceding Leo in death was his wife, Blanche, his son, Richard, and brothers and sisters. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Patty, grandson, Mickey and his wife Juliane, grand-daughters, Jessica Mayette, Melissa Urwiller, and her husband, Chris, great grand-children, Cole, Claire, and Carter Urwiller, his sisters, Viola Silbo, Azilda Plante, Claudette Violette, and Joan Lebel, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. A military honor guard and prayer service were held at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix on January 17th. Leo will be in our hearts always
