    • Margaret E. Violette, 93, of La Crosse died on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility in La Crosse.

      She was born in La Crosse on April 16, 1917, to Gilbert and Minnie (Marquardt) Nordrum. She was employed by the La Crosse County Highway Department for 37 years, the last 10 years as office manager. She was a lifetime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

      She is survived by two daughters, Janice(Sid) Otterson of La Crescent, Minn., and Rita(Paul) Pfingsten of Lexington, Ky.; a son, Col. Ronald (Bonnie) Violette, USAF Retired, of California; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel N. Simon of La Crosse; niece, Margaret (Keith) Hellie of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; and a nephew, James (Paula) Nordrum of Lucasville, Ohio.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond, in 1982; and two brothers, Earl and G. Lee.

      Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Sachs officiating. Burial will be in Onalaska City Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

      The family would like to thank the staff of Bethany on Cass and Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility for the excellent care and compassion shown to Margaret.
