He was a member of the American Legion Post. Charles also invested in the lives of other people. He was a scoutmaster for many years earning the Silver Beaver Award and producing eight Eagle Scouts. Even though Charles had two open heart surgeries in 1987 and in 1992, that never stopped him from helping others, and he received the Exemplary Award from the state of Maine for his countless hours of service to others. He had a great love for the woods and had a camp on Presque Isle Stream that he had helped his father build when he was 17. Charles was also an active member of Grant Memorial Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norma (Hewitt) Gudreau of Presque Isle; a daughter, Ellen Gudreau Cronin of Presque Isle; three sons, Stephen Gudreau and his wife, Peggy, of Mapleton and Wayne and Michael Gudreau, both of Presque Isle; three grandchildren, Michael Gudreau II, Matthew Cronin and Dannielle Cronin; three great-grandchildren, Sierra Blade, Aliysa Blade and Calliana Cronin; a half sister, Blanche Brillis of Connecticut; many sisters-in-law, as well as a brother-in-law, Wayne Hewitt. Friends may call noon until the time of service at the church. Committal services with military honors will take place 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
