Dr. Daniel Turner, in his Turner book, said Mark was married first to Daisy Green of Mapleton, but they were divorced about two years later. Shortly after his marriage to Emily, he moved to a farm, known as the Cal Smith place, on the east side of the Grendell road in Mapleton, just north of the Chapman town line. He and Emily lived there thirty years. Eventually he sold this farm and moved to Presque Isle, where he had acquired considerable property in the business section of the city. Here he began to finance the construction of a whole series of modern business buildings and apartment residences. Mark became a man of considerable wealth and was almost universally known as a millionaire.
