Corinne Margaret Foley, 98, died July 21, 2010, at her home with her family at her side.

She was born Sept. 25, 1911, in Van Buren, Maine, to Alphonse and Febronie ( Beaulieu) Violette. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Van Buren, in 1930 and on Oct. 5, 1931, married Leo Paul Foley. Shortly after, they moved to Lincoln.

She was employed at the former Franconia Paper Co. for 29 years as a telephone operator and billing clerk. She also worked at several local Gift Shops in the Lincoln-Woodstock area.

She was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish in Lincoln. She was very involved as a member of the Daughters of Isabella and served as their Regent and held other offices.

After their retirement, she spent the winter months in Florida and the summer months in Northeast Harbor, Maine. She has lived with her daughter in Canterbury since 1997.

She was predeceased by her husband in May 1990; by a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Sawyer in 1960; and a great-great-grandson, Sawyer Dean Taylor in 2008.

IN HER LIFE: Corinne enjoyed raising her family. She loved to cook and try new recipes. No one made a better boiled dinner or baked tastier dessert bars and dinner rolls than she. At Christmas time popcorn balls were always a favorite and became a family tradition, as did making and decorating wreaths with pine boughs.

In the fall she would collect pinecones and acorns to make pinecone wreaths; she even had a craft room for others to enjoy this craft. In recent years she spent time watching TV and was a fan of both the Red Sox and the Celtics. As a pasttime she knitted dishcloths to give to family and friends. She loved doing the daily Jumble in the Union Leader and was very good at it.

She leaves five daughters, Arlene Mulleavey of Woodstock, Eileen Branch and her husband, Edmund, of Bass Harbor, Maine, Shirley Mayhew and her husband, Murdock "Hawkshaw" of Manchester, Joyce Arsenault and her husband, Rene, of Lancaster and Sally Foley, with whom she lived in Canterbury. She leaves 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main St., North Woodstock. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. St. Joseph Church, Church Street, Lincoln. The Rev. John Mackenzie will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
