  Joseph W. Violette, 75, of South Portland, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, after a brief illness. Joseph was born on April 28, 1942, in Portland, the son of Joseph Raoul and Elizabeth Ann (Lebel) Violette. He was self-employed as a general contractor until his retirement. Joseph was a devoted father to his three children, Garnette Morris of Mountain Home, ID, John Violette of Norway, ME, and Christian Violette of Portland, ME. He had many grandchildren, Danielle Taylor, Kirstyn O’Donnell, Nickolas MacDonald, Cassidy Violette, Steven Violette, Katy Page, Kelby Violette, Cade Violette, Sarah Violette, and Matthew Violette. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Glenna Moulton, and his brother, Clayton Violette. Joseph is survived by his three children, all of his grandchildren; his sisters, Cynthia Morin of Westbrook, and Shelby Baer of Swansea, MA; his girlfriend of 28 years, Cheryl Bailey and her children Bryan Bailey, Carl Bailey; his foster children, Galen Jordon, Andrew Roberts; his adopted son, Carl Martin, and adopted daughters, Mikaela, Kayleigh; granddaughter, Kyleigh Bailey.
